The Fantastic Fountain is a unique building that you can build with the Cities: Skylines After Dark DLC.

To unlock the Fantastic Fountain, you’ll need to:

  • Have 500 passengers transported by taxi
  • Reach the Busy Town population milestone (which can be anywhere from 1,200 to 5,000 population, depending on the map).

You’ll find this building in the Tourism & Leisure tab of the Unique Buildings menu (and you can hover over its silhouette to see your progress until you unlock it).

Once you reach 500 passengers, you’ll be able to build the Fantastic Fountain for ₡120,000.

It provides 125 entertainment value and produces 50 noise pollution.

How To Get Taxis

Like the Fantastic Fountain, taxis also require the After Dark DLC. If you’ve never used them, here’s how to get them in your city:

Step 1: Build a taxi depot.

The taxi depot is the source of the taxis. It costs ₡15,000 to build and ₡160 a week in upkeep.

Step 2: Build taxi stands.

Place multiple taxi stands around your city. These are where vacant taxis can wait until they get a call from a passenger requesting for pickup.

Note: Taxis can also wait at the depot, but having taxi stands at various points in your city allows them to wait somewhere closer to potential passengers.

Each taxi stand costs ₡1,000 to build and only ₡16 a week in upkeep.

For best results, place them in busy parts of your city such as commercial districts and near unique buildings. Having some near intercity transit buildings such as airports, train stations, and harbors is a good idea as well.

Once you have your taxis set up, it’s just a matter of waiting until you reach 500 passengers served.

Do note that while this unlock is fairly simple to set up, it can take a while to accomplish – since each taxi only transports one passenger at a time.

Also, if you have a decent mass transport system set up (e.g., with metros or buses), citizens will tend to flock to those instead, so not many citizens will be needing to call a cab.
