The Spa Hotel is a unique building from the Cities: Skylines Snowfall DLC.

To unlock it, you must:

  • Play on a winter map with dynamic weather enabled
  • Have a total of 1,000,000 units of snow collected with snow dump plows
  • Reach the Worthy Village milestone (240 – 950 population, depending on the map)

Once these conditions are met, you’ll be able to build the Spa Hotel from the Winter tab of the Unique Buildings menu for ₡90,000.

Until then, you can hover over its silhouette in the menu to check your progress.

All Winter Maps

As of game version 1.15, you can choose from the following official maps from the Snowfall DLC:

  • Frosty Rivers
  • Icy Islands
  • Winter Hills
  • Frozenshire
  • Snowy Coast

You can also get other user-made winter maps from the Steam Workshop.

Snowfall & How to Collect It

As long as dynamic weather is enabled, snow will occasionally fall in your winter map.

This can range from light snow showers to heavy storms (and the amount of snow that accumulates on your roads will vary accordingly).

To clear the snow from your roads, you’ll need a snow dump. You’ll find this under the Road Maintenance tab of the Roads menu. It costs 5,000 to build.

Once built, your snow dump will automatically send out plows to clear any roads affected by snowfall and bring them back to the dump.

Note: The 1,000,000 units for this unlock represents the aggregate amount that your plows collect over time; all that snow doesn’t have to be in your dumps all at the same time. And that’s a very good thing, because the snow in your snow dumps melts gradually over time, so getting 1,000,000 units stored would be extremely difficult.

Of course, the larger your city is and the more roads you have, the faster you’ll meet the requirement.

Tip: Plan Your Winter Unique Building Unlocking

The unlocking requirement for the Spa Hotel works against unlocking another winter unique building, the Snowcastle Restaurant. That’s because the restaurant requires that you have 200,000 units of snow on your roads at the same time (uncollected).

And the Snowcastle Restaurant is itself a requirement for another unique building, the Igloo Hotel.

So be aware that getting the Spa Hotel will delay how soon you’d get those two buildings.

On the other hand, the Ski Resort unique building requires you to fill one snow dump. So it may be a good idea to try to unlock that and the Spa Hotel at the same time.
