How To Get The Astrope Mount in FFXIV

Astrope Mount noticed by a Mentor in Labyrinthos (FFXIV)

The Astrope Mount is a reward from unlocking the Achievement “I Hope Mentor Will Notice Me VI”. This Achievement requires completion of 2,000 Duties via Duty Roulette: Mentor.

And just to put into perspective how rare this is: the mount was added in Patch 3.3 (released June of 2016). If you had done one Mentor Roulette a day since June 2016, you’d have gotten your Astrope Whistle (and your mount) five years later in December of 2021.

Mentor Roulette itself is actually locked behind special requirements as well. So you can’t even begin the long grind for your Astrope until you’ve unlocked it!

But the cool thing about the Astrope is that it’s also a two-seater mount.

Honestly, it should seat 50 for how long it takes to acquire.

Becoming a Mentor So You Can Be Noticed

Master of Mentors, The Smith in the Hall of the Novice.

I’m guessing the first question you’ll have is how to become a Mentor.

The requirements have changed a bit over the course of the game. Here’s the current set of requirements as of Endwalker:

Battle Mentor:

  • Complete 1,000 Dungeons, Raids, or Trials
  • Receive 1,500 Player Commendations
  • Complete any Level 80 Tank Role Quest
  • Complete any Level 80 Melee DPS or Ranged DPS Role Quest
  • Complete any Level 80 Healer Role Quest

Trade Mentor:

  • Gather/catch 300 Collectibles
  • Craft 100 Collectibles
  • Level any Disciple of the Hand to 80
  • Level any Disciple of the Land to 80

A Trade Mentor is the clearly easier route to go, but it won’t unlock the Roulette.

You’ll need to be a Battle Mentor for the mount, so unfortunately no shortcuts here.

Once you’ve completed the necessary requirements, you’ll need to register as a Mentor.

You can do so at any NPC named “The Smith”. They appear at the following locations:

  • New Gridania, X: 11 Y: 13
  • Western Thanalan, X: 27 Y: 16
  • Central Shroud, X: 10 Y: 22
  • Ul’dah – Steps of Nald, X: 12 Y: 9
  • Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks, X: 11 Y: 11
  • South Shroud, X: 19 Y: 19
  • Eastern Thanalan, X: 14 Y: 30
  • Western La Noscea, X: 28 Y: 24

Congratulations on your newfound Mentor status, and may you be a blessing to the Community. Wear your Crown proudly and try not to stand in AOEs, as to avoid public shaming.

Now that you’re a Mentor, you’ll see the Duty Roulette: Mentor in your Duties Finder.

It’s very likely that it will still be locked, however.

This is because it requires completion of every possible Duty that can pop up in the Roulette.

This List is massive, so you may want to check these off as you complete them. Many you’ll have done on your way to 80.

The positive here is that they can be unsynced and still count.

With perseverance, you’ll eventually have the legendary Astrope Mount.
