Detailed Unlocking Guide

Before getting to the Main Scenario Quest (MSQ) “Into a Copper Hell,” you need to complete every MSQ leading up to it as part of the patch 2.0 Main Scenario Questline for A Realm Reborn.

Work your way through the main story until you’ve caught up, then talk to Momodi in Ul’dah – Steps of Nald (X:11.6, Y:9.6) to begin.

In this part of the story, Papashan, a former member of the Sultansworn, requests your help regarding an unfortunate situation that occurred within the Copperbell Mines.

One of Papashan’s acquaintances reported that a herd of Hecatonchires have occupied the mines.

The Hecatonchires, sealed deep within Copperbell Mines, have broken through their gaols and are seeking revenge for their imprisonment.

As a result, the mining operations of the Amajina & Sons Mineral Concern company have been halted. Papashan will ask you to talk to one of their employees, Painted Mesa, to learn more about the situation. Head to Ul’dah – Steps of Nald (X:11.7, Y:9.5) to continue.

Painted Mesa will give some more background into the Hecatonchires’ imprisonment inside the mines, how they escaped, and what the current situation is.

After his quick overview, he’ll point you toward the Stone Torch posted outside the mines, should you be ready to go in.

Talk to the Stone Torch outside of Copperbell Mines in Western Thanalan (X:27.9, Y:16.8) to continue.

The Stone Torch will grant you entry to the mines after expressing his disbelief in Papashan finding an adventurer so quickly. He will warn you that it may not be long before the Hecatonchires march out of the mines and cause havoc across Thanalan.

Once you’re done talking to the Stone Torch, Copperbell Mines will be unlocked.

This dungeon requires at least a Level 17 Disciple of War or Magic job and has no average item level requirement.
