FFXIV Saint Mocianne’s Arboretum: How To Unlock + Boss Guide

Saint Mociannes Arboretum Dungeon in FFXIV

You can unlock the Level 60 Normal dungeon Saint Mocianne’s Arboretum by accepting the Level 60 quest “An Overgrown Ambition” from Tetchy Treasure Hunter in The Dravanian Hinterlands (X:12.3, Y:19.6).

However, before this quest becomes available, you need to complete the Level 60 Main Scenario Quest (MSQ) “Heavensward” from the Guidance Node in Azys Lla (X:16.0, Y:22.0).

We’ll go through the unlock requirements & all boss mechanics in more detail below:

  1. Finish the Level 60 Main Scenario Quest “Heavensward” from the Guidance Node in Azys Lla (X:16.0, Y:22.0).
  2. Accept the Level 60 quest “An Overgrown Ambition” from Tetchy Treasure Hunter in The Dravanian Hinterlands (X:12.3, Y:19.6).
  3. Speak with Sawney outside the Arboretum in The Dravanian Hinterlands (X:10.2, Y:23.7).

Detailed Unlock Guide

Saint Mocianne’s Arboretum is part of the expert-level dungeons in the Heavensward expansion. To unlock these dungeons, you must first finish the final MSQ for patch 3.0 of the expansion.

Accept and complete the Level 60 MSQ “Heavensward” from the Guidance Node in Azys Lla (X:16.0, Y:22.0).

Note that you need to finish every MSQ leading up to “Heavensward” before it can be unlocked, including all MSQs from A Realm Reborn.

Once you complete “Heavensward,” the Tetchy Treasure Hunter will appear in The Dravanian Hinterlands. Travel to Idyllshire and make your way to The Dravanian Hinterlands (X:12.3, Y:19.6), where you’ll see the haggard and terrified treasure hunter trying to compose herself.

Upon talking to her, she’ll explain that she and her team barely escaped from the wild beasts inside the nearby arboretum.

An unexplained treasure apparently lies within Saint Mocianne’s Arboretum that must be retrieved and the treasure hunter would ask you to help her drive the beasts out.

Speak with her friend Sawney outside the arboretum in The Dravanian Hinterlands (X:10.2, Y:23.7) to learn more.

You’ll learn from Sawney that the wild beasts her friend was referring to are overgrown seedkins that have grown uncontrollably due to the lack of supervision in the arboretum.

If the seedkins are driven out of the arboretum, Sawney believes that a treasure that could benefit Idyllshire for generations could be obtained.

After talking to Sawney, Saint Mocianne’s Arboretum will be unlocked.

This dungeon requires at least a Level 60 Disciple of War or Magic job and an average item level of 170 to enter.

While this dungeon is easily soloable with a high-level job while unsynced, you may encounter this dungeon when doing your duty roulettes.

We’ll cover each of the boss’ mechanics below to help you during your synced runs.

Boss #1: Rose Garden

Mechanics:

Tank this boss in the middle of the arena to avoid unnecessary movements.

  • Vine Probe: A non-telegraphed tankbuster on the primary target. Face the boss away from the party.
  • Burr Fester: A room-wide AoE attack. Mitigate and heal through the damage.
  • Extremely Bad Breath: A frontal cone attack that applies a 20-second “Poison,” “Paralyze,” and “Slow” debuffs to anyone hit.
  • Extremely Bad Breath + Seedlings: The boss may also use its breath attack while slowly turning in one direction. During this attack, the boss will have a green puddle underneath it. Standing in its hitbox will apply a continuous “Resin” debuff that reduces movement speed.

It’ll also summon four seedlings that use “Extremely Bad Breath.” Stay away from the boss’ hitbox and avoid the seedlings’ breath attacks.

  • Schizocarps: The boss will summon up to four “Rose Hips” mobs that should be destroyed immediately.
  • Explosive Dehiscence (Rose Hips): These mobs will explode after some time if they’re not killed in time, dealing room-wide AoE damage. This attack has no cast bar, so kill the “Rose Hips” as soon as possible.

Boss #2: Queen Hawk

Phase 1

  • Bees: When the prompt “A new swarm of bees arrives.“ appears, four untargetable bees will spawn outside the arena. These bees will continuously use single-target “Sharp Spindle” attacks.
  • Stinger Cell: A non-telegraphed tankbuster on the primary target. Use mitigation skills and heal through the damage.
  • Apitoxin: A random player will be targeted with an AoE. This AoE will drop a green puddle afterward, dealing constant “Poison” DoTs to anyone standing in it. Try to drop your puddles on the sides.
  • Pheromone Leak: A room-wide AoE attack. Mitigate and heal through the attack.

Phase 2

At around 60% HP, the boss will fly to the middle of the arena and become invulnerable, signaling the start of Phase 2.

  • Avail: This skill will grant the boss two buffs: “Stoneskin (Physical)” and “Stoneskin (Magical).” These buffs will make her immune to incoming attacks. She’ll also be tethered to four “Knight Hawk” mobs that need to be killed to remove her invulnerability.
  • Knight Hawk: These knights don’t use any attacks, so burn them down quickly.
  • Pheromone Leak (Phase 2): During this phase, the boss will continuously use “Pheromone Leak.” This attack will grant her one stack of “Damage Up” buff with every use (up to 16 stacks).” Kill the knights quickly, or the increasing damage of “Pheromone Leak” will eventually wipe the party.

Phase 3

  • Bees (Phase 3): The number of bees outside the arena will be doubled.
  • Assail: The boss will command the bees outside to do consecutive line attacks on targeted players. Spread out to avoid overlapping damage.
  • Ally: The bees will line up into two groups of four outside the arena. Then, they’ll fire wide non-telegraphed line attacks in front of them. Dodge these attacks by standing next to the line of bees.

Mechanics:

  • Deracinator: A heavy-hitting tankbuster on the primary target. Use mitigation skills and heal through the attack.
  • Atropine Spore: A large donut AoE that applies a stacking “Magic Vulnerability Up” debuff on hit. Move near or inside the boss’ hitbox to avoid.
  • Soul Vacuum: A room-wide AoE attack. Mitigate and heal through the damage.
  • Bulbs: The boss will drop five bulbs on the ground. These bulbs will constantly have circle AoE markers around them that go off every few seconds, dealing damage and applying stacking “Magic Vulnerability Up” debuffs. The bulbs can’t be killed, so stay away from their AoEs.
  • Front Fatale: Another room-wide AoE attack that applies a six-second “Seduced” debuff to anyone looking at the boss when the cast goes off. “Seduced” will cause players to run toward the seedlings. Look away to avoid.
  • Petal Shower: All players will be marked with a large purple AoE marker. Spread out to avoid excess damage.
  • Lily of the Saint: The boss will summon three flower mobs that need to be killed as soon as possible. If left alive for too long, these flowers will explode.
