FFXIV The Final Steps of Faith (Unlock + Trial Guide)

Nidhogg NM Trial close-up in FFXIV

The Level 60 trial The Final Steps of Faith, also known as Nidhogg NM, can be unlocked by accepting the Level 60 MSQ “An End to the Song” from Aymeric in The Churning Mists (X:7.4, Y:26.7).

This MSQ is part of the patch 3.3 main storyline for the Heavensward expansion.

Unlocking Quest: An End to the Song

This Level 60 MSQ can only be accessed near the end of the patch 3.3 Main Scenario Questline for the Heavensward expansion.

You’ll need to finish every MSQ in the A Realm Reborn base game and every Heavensward MSQ leading up to “An End to the Song” before you can unlock this trial.

After that, talk to Aymeric in The Churning Mists (X:7.4, Y:26.7) to begin.

In the ensuing cutscene, Hraesvelgr arrives with his brood and takes you and your friends to Ishgard, where the Dravanian Horde are laying siege to the city.

As you look over the Steps of Faith, you see Lucia fighting alongside Ishgardian knights against the Horde led by Nidhogg himself.

Not long after, the two great wyrms stand face to face as Hraesvelgr tries to convince his brother to call off the assault.

Unfortunately, Nidhogg has long been blinded by pure hatred and vengeance and will stop at nothing to destroy Ishgard.

Hraesvelgr is left with no choice but to fight.

An intense battle ensues as both dragons clash with the Steps of Faith. Humans on the ground are left watching in awe as the night sky is lit up by the two great wyrms.

After the final and decisive skirmish, the dragons plunge hard into the ground.

Nidhogg emerges victoriously after the dust settled, Hraesvelgr’s dismembered wing clamped by his humongous jaws.

With his fate seemingly sealed, Hraesvelgr entrusts his remaining power to you, hoping you can put an end to his brother’s madness.

Once the cutscene finishes, The Final Steps of Faith will be unlocked.

This trial requires at least a Level 60 Disciple of War or Magic job and an average item level of 205 to enter.

Since this trial was released way back in patch 3.3 in the Heavensward expansion, it can be easily cleared with a high-level character if you enter the trial while unsynced.

However, if you’re a new player, you may need to do this through the Duty Finder.

You can familiarize yourself with the boss’ mechanics below so you can clear this trial smoothly.
