You’ll get the Amulet Coin from a trio of dancers in Castelia City. You’ll need to defeat all three dancers in battle one-by-one. Then after each dancer has been beaten, they’ll join together at the Castelia City water fountain and give you the Amulet Coin as a reward.
It’s worth noting that this is the only Amulet Coin you can get in Pokémon B&W.
As for what it does: the Amulet Coin doubles the amount of money you win after defeating a trainer, as long as the Pokémon holding the item participates in the battle.
Amulet Coin Location (Step-by-Step)
Step 1: Starting at the Castelia City Pokémon Center, head west along the main road.
Step 2: Continue west on the main road, passing the first alley you come across.
Step 3: Keep west on the main road here. After passing the building with the green awning, you’ll come across another alley (it’ll be directly next to a blue signpost). Head down this alley.
Step 4: Walk straight down the alley towards the exit, passing by the garbage cans and dumpsters.
Step 5: Exit the alley into the city’s Central Plaza.
Then speak to the dancer NPC that’s standing in front of the water fountain. They’re the first of three dancers who will challenge you to a battle.
Step 6: After defeating the first dancer, they’ll ask you to find two other dancers to join their dancing team.
Step 7: After finishing your conversation, head south to go back down the same alley you just came from.
Step 8: About halfway down the alley, you’ll find the second dancer next to the green garbage cans. They will also challenge you to a battle.
Step 9: After defeating the second dancer, they’ll head to the water fountain to join the first dancer’s team.
From here, keep going south and exit the alley to head onto the main street.
Step 10: Across from the alleyway you’ll see an intersecting path that leads south with a flight of stairs. Cross the main street and head south down the path.
Step 11: This path leads to one of the city’s piers. Continue moving south down the pier past the cruise ship.
Step 12: At the end of the pier you’ll find the third dancer. Accept their challenge and defeat them in battle.
Step 13: After the battle, this third dancer will leave to join the other two at the water fountain.
Now it’s time to retrace your steps.
So exit the pier going north to head back onto the main street.
Step 14: Then walk across the main street and enter the same alley directly ahead.
Step 15: Keep going north through the alley and head into the Central Plaza.
Step 16: You’ll now find all three dancers standing together at the water fountain.
Speak to the original dancer you met here (standing in the middle) to be rewarded with the Amulet Coin.
How the Amulet Coin Works
The Amulet Coin is a valuable held item that doubles the amount of money you’ll get after defeating a trainer in battle.
But to receive this bonus, the Pokémon holding the Amulet Coin must participate in the battle.
It’s recommended to equip the Amulet Coin as soon as you receive it, since it can boost your bankroll early on in your journey.
Tip: The Amulet Coin can also be stacked with the attacking move Pay Day, which scatters coins equal to twice the Pokémon’s level that used Pay Day.
In Black & White, the only in-game Pokémon that can learn this move is Purrloin and its evolution Liepard. Both Pokémon can only learn Pay Day via breeding.
