How To Get the EXP Shares in Pokémon Black & White

You can get two EXP Shares as gifts from two different NPCs in Pokémon Black & White: one is in Castelia City and another is in Icirrus City.

The first opportunity to get an Exp. Share is by locating and defeating the Battle Company chairman in Castelia City. You’ll find the chairman at his desk on the 55th Floor of the Battle Company headquarters.

Then you can receive another Exp. Share at the Pokémon Fan Club headquarters in Icirrus City. You’ll need to show a Pokémon at a level between 24 and 49 to the chairman of the Fan Club in order to receive the item.

We’ll cover both locations here with step-by-step screenshots to guide you the whole way.

Method #1: Castelia City Battle Company

Step 1: Starting at the Castelia City Pokémon Center, head west on the main road.

Step 2: Continue west past the alley. Immediately after the first alley is where you’ll find the Battle Company headquarters (it has double doors and a dark green trim around the exterior).

Step 3: Upon entering the Battle Company building, head straight and take the elevator to the 55th Floor.

Step 4: The chairman you need to speak to will be seated at his desk in the northeast corner of the 55th Floor. He should have a green shirt and grey hair.

Step 5: Speak to the chairman and he’ll challenge you to a battle.

Step 6: Defeat the chairman and he’ll reward you with an Exp Share.

Method #2: Icirrus City Pokémon Fan Club

Step 1: Starting at the Icirrus City Pokémon Center, head north on the dirt path above the Center.

Step 2: The path above the Pokémon Center quickly forks in two directions. Take the path going north.

Step 3: The path north leads past the Icirrus City Gym. But before reaching the Gym, turn to the left and head down a small pathway behind some trees.

Step 4: This path will bring you to the Pokémon Fan Club Headquarters building.

Step 5: The chairman of the Fan Club will be standing in the very middle of the room wearing a brown hat.

Show him a Pokémon between the levels of 24 and 49 to receive an Exp Share.

How Exp. Share Works in Black & White

When given as a held item to a Pokémon in your party, the Exp. Share will give 50% of all experience points gained in battle over to that Pokémon. This effect occurs even if the Pokémon did not participate in the battle.

If you choose to get both EXP Shares, you can even use them simultaneously on two Pokémon in your party.

But instead of one Pokémon receiving 50% of the experience points, both Pokémon would each receive a 25% share.
