HM05 Waterfall's location in Pokémon Black

HM05 Waterfall is found on an island far west on Route 18.

As for move details, Waterfall is primarily used outside of battle to climb waterfalls and reach certain areas of the map – such as the Shrine where you catch the legendary Pokémon Landorus.

Used in battle, Waterfall is a Water-type attack that has 80 Power and perfect Accuracy.

HM05 Waterfall Move Details
Type Water
Category Physical
Power 80
Accuracy 100
PP 15

Waterfall is a Water-type Physical attack that deals modest damage at 80 base Power. The move also features perfect accuracy and a secondary effect, causing its target to flinch 20% of the time.

You could certainly make use of Waterfall in battle, as the damage output is attractive and the possibility of causing your opponent to flinch could open up a sizable turn advantage.

But it’s also not the most crucial water-type move in the game.

Waterfall can really only be taught to Water-types, so you might consider teaching it to a Pokémon like Gyarados to benefit from the STAB bonus and its sizable Physical Attack stat (125 base).

Sharpedo and Crawdaunt are also great users worth teaching Waterfall to, both featuring 120 Special Attack.
