Brick Break is a Physical Fighting-type move that deals decent damage at 100% accuracy.

The attack’s more common use in battle is to destroy the barriers set by the moves Reflect and Light Screen.

  • Reflect reduces damage taken from Physical moves by 50%
  • While Light Screen reduces the same percentage of damage from Special moves

Both barrier moves are used often in a competitive setting, so having Brick Break on hand can easily neutralize the advantage for your opponent’s entire party.

It’s important to note that Brick Break won’t have any effect on Reflect and Light Screen barriers if they are used by a Ghost Pokémon, as Ghost types are immune to Fighting-type moves.

If you’re looking to use Brick Break competitively against Screeners (Reflect and Light Screen users), consider using the move Defog instead.

In addition to neutralizing Light Screen and Reflect, Defog also gets rid of Safeguard, Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Stealth Rock on your opponent’s side of the field.
