How To Get TM67 Retaliate in Pokémon Black & White

Standing outside the Nacrene City Gym in Pokémon Black

You will get TM67 Retaliate as a reward for defeating Gym Leader Lenora in Nacrene City. You’ll also earn your second badge here after taking on Lenora’s Normal-type Pokémon.

But before you’re able to face Lenora and earn TM67 Retaliate, you’ll first need to defeat the Striaton City Gym (the 1st gym in Unova).

As for the move itself:

Retaliate is a Normal-type attack that deals damage at 70 base Power. Its base Power doubles to 140 if the attack is used the following turn after one of your Pokémon faints.

Even though it’s one of the best Normal-type attacks in the game, Retaliate still leaves a lot to be desired.

Its base Power of 70 is solid, and doubles to 140 if used immediately after one of your Pokémon faints. That damage output can be extremely advantageous at this point of your journey.

Unfortunately, Retaliate is held back due to its low 5 PP (Power Point) count.

This prevents the move from being used as a go-to for your Normal-type Pokémon, or at least it can’t be used very frequently in most battles.

So it should instead only be used in situations when your Pokémon’s Power is doubled, or when you’re facing a surprisingly difficult opponent.

Note: Retaliate can only be learned via level-up by a handful of Normal-type Pokémon in B&W, so TM67 can really come in handy if you find a way to use it early on in your playthrough. Staraptor and Slaking are both ideal Retaliate users due to their high Attack stats.
