How To Get TM69 Rock Polish in Pokémon Black & White

Near Sage Bronius in Chargestone Cave (Pokemon Black)

You’ll get TM69 Rock Polish from Sage Bronius towards the end of Chargestone Cave. Sage Bronius is one of 6 Sages you’re asked to find after the main story, which means this TM is only obtainable in the post-game.

The easiest way to reach Sage Bronius is by starting at the exit of Chargestone Cave, which is located in Mistralton City. Once you find the Sage, you’re challenged by two Team Plasma goons. After defeating Team Plasma, Bronius will hand over TM69 Rock Polish.

As for the move itself:

Rock Polish is a Status move that increases the user’s Speed stat by two stages, doubling the stat. The move can be used three times for a total increase of six stages.

Rock Polish is a powerful Rock-type move that increases the user’s Speed stat by two stages.

With just one use of this move in battle, a Pokémon’s Speed will double. This can create a great advantage for your Rock-type Pokémon, which is a type that typically suffers from lower Speed.

Below is a chart that outlines the stages of how the Speed stat increases:

Stage Stat modifier
1 Speed 1.5x
2 Speed 2x
3 Speed 2.5x
4 Speed 3x
5 Speed 3.5x
6 Speed 4x

Rock Polish is best taught to a Rock-type with strong Attack and mediocre Speed.

Some great Rock Polish users in Pokémon Black/White include:

  • Gigalith
  • Tyranitar
  • Rampardos
  • Rhyperior

All four of the Pokémon above can learn the move via TM. And while Rock Polish is teachable to mostly just Rock-types, there are some exceptions where other typings can learn this move as well.

For example, the Ghost/Ground-type Golurk and the Dark/Steel-type Bisharp can both learn the move, and they both fit the bill as strong attackers with low Speed.
