How To Get TM89 U-turn in Pokémon Black & White

Standing near the Wingull that gives you the Uturn TM (Pokémon Black)

TM89 U-turn is dropped by a Wingull on Route 13 after you find and returning its missing Grams (Gram 1, Gram 2, and Gram 3). There are three Grams in total, and each of them can be found in the surrounding area.

The easiest way to reach Route 13 is by heading south from Lacunosa Town.

And for the move itself: U-turn is a Bug-type attack that deals damage at 70 base Power. After attacking, the user immediately switches out of battle and is replaced by a party Pokémon of your choosing.

U-turn is a Physical Bug-type attack that deals damage at 70 base Power.

The move is typically used for its secondary effect, as you’re able to switch to another Pokémon in your party after the attack is successful.

U-turn is a great way to keep your opponent on their toes, and it’s very difficult for your opponents to prepare for.

The attack can help you create a type disadvantage with the other members of your party if you’re able to anticipate your opponent’s next attack. It can also be used to quickly swap-out a Pokémon with low HP or a status infliction.

Tip: Even though U-turn is a Bug-type move, only a few Bug Pokémon can learn it via level-up.

So TM89 can be taught to a variety of types, and pairing it with a strong attacker is much more feasible than forcing it onto a Bug-type that you may not even want in your team.

Some great Pokémon that are eligible to learn U-turn include:

  • Darmanitan
  • Mienshao
  • Braviary
