How To Get the Fame Checker in Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen

You’ll obtain the Fame Checker after defeating your Rival at the start of the yellow bridge (Nugget Bridge) on the north side of Cerulean City.

Once your Rival is defeated, they will talk to you about Bill, leave, and then they’ll double back and hand over the Fame Checker.

Prerequisites

Pretty much the only thing you need to do before receiving the Fame Checker is head to Cerulean City.

The prerequisites for that are:

• Defeat Brock and get through Mt. Moon
• Reach Cerulean City

Once you’re in Cerulean City, you can find and beat your Rival for the Fame Checker.

Getting the Fame Checker

Once you’re in Cerulean City (take Mt. Moon from the east of Pewter City after defeating Brock), just head to the north side of the city until you see a yellow bridge.

When you attempt to walk onto the Bridge, your Rival will come flying out of nowhere and challenge you to a battle.

Simply defeat your Rival in battle, and then he’ll tell you about Bill.

Afterwards, he’ll walk away before turning around and walking back. When he comes back he’ll give you the Fame Checker (and a few more insults).

What is the Fame Checker?

The Fame Checker is a Key Item in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen that lets you read information about important NPCs in the game.

Using the Fame Checker will show a list of famous people, and display important assets related to the people (such as signs and other items.)

The Fame Checker is convenient if you forget who a character is, or if you just want to dive a little deeper into the lore of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen!
