How To Get HM07 Waterfall in Pokémon FRLG

You will get HM07 Waterfall in Icefall Cave, which is located on Four Island of the Sevii Islands. The HM is in a Poké Ball on the ground in an area that you’ll reach by navigating through the puzzles of Icefall Cave.

But to get to Four Island and Icefall Cave, you need to give the Ruby to Celio and received the Rainbow Pass.

Prerequisites

Waterfall is a late game HM, so you won’t be able to get it until you’ve beaten the Elite Four and done a couple of other things.

Specifically, the prerequisites are:

Get the National Pokédex after defeating the Elite Four and having caught 60 Pokémon
Bring the Ruby to Celio and receive the Rainbow Pass

If you have the Rainbow Pass from Celio already, then you’re good to go find the Waterfall HM inside Four Island’s Icefall Cave.

Getting HM07 Waterfall

Reaching Icefall Cave

The first step of getting HM07 Waterfall is making your way to Icefall Cave on Four Island.

So head to the docks (either in Vermilion City or from one of the Sevii Islands) and talk to the Captain, and then select Four Island.

As soon as you land on Four Island, if you’ve never been there before, your Rival will walk up and “greet” you with a few insults.

Once your Rival is done saying hello, he’ll walk away and you can make your way onto the island.

Then walk up the stairs to the base of the island, and make your way to the east side of the island. That’s where there will be a small body of water.

Use Surf on this water and start sailing north.

Immediately to the north, there will be a small grass platform that you can land on.

There will also be a cave entrance and a person standing by it. This is the entrance to Icefall Cave.

Navigating Icefall Cave

Make your way inside the cave and surf on the water to reach the north-west platform. Once you’re there, you’ll find another entrance for you to enter.

Sail to this platform in order to walk through another cave entrance deeper into Icefall Cave

Now the puzzle begins.

Inside the Icefall Cave, there are ice tiles on the ground.

Every time you step on an ice tile, that tile will turn into cracked ice. If you step on cracked ice, you will fall through and land somewhere else in the cave.

We want to avoid that most of the time.

So when you enter the first puzzle room of Icefall Cave, take the following path across the first set of ice tiles, but only step on the ice tile once.

Walk across this ice tile one time (it will crack so do not step on it again.)

Then take the following path to continue through this section of Icefall Cave. Only step on each ice tile once.

Note that there is a shorter path if you just walk up, then left – but my path below will let you pick up the Ultra Ball laying on the ground as well.

Take this path to pick up the Ultra Ball on the ground and make your way to the north part of this floor

Once you’re past the 2×2 section of ice you’ll reach the north part of this floor. There will be two ice tiles separated by a corner.

Step on the top ice tile to crack it.

Once the ice is cracked, step on it one more time to fall through to the next section of Icefall Cave.

You will fall through the ice tile and land right next to a ladder going up.

Go ahead and take that ladder up.

After falling through the ice, take the ladder immediately to the right to head to progress through Icefall Cave

After climbing the ladder, follow the small path down leading to the very southern wall. Here, there will be another patch of ice that we want to fall through.

So step on the ice once to crack it, then step on it again to fall through.

Once you fall through this ice patch, you will land in the middle of a large ice floor. Make sure to follow our exact directions below, or you may have to restart this part of the puzzle.

Once you land, press the Up button one time to slide north until you hit a rock in the middle of the ice sheet.

Then, press the Right directional button to slide east into another rock.

Press the Right button. The Poké Ball shown is not Waterfall, so ignore it for now.

From here, press the Down button to slide south into yet another rock.

Finally, press Left to slide left into a large boulder. From there you can walk south and take the ladder going up, which leads back to the first floor.

As soon as you take the ladder up, you will see a Poké Ball lying on the floor in this blocked-off area of the cave.

This is HM07 Waterfall, so just pick it up and you’ll have your HM.

Now you can teach Waterfall to a Pokémon and use it to climb any Waterfall you want, including the one right at the entrance of Icefall Cave!
