There is only one Lax Incense you can get in Pokémon FRLG, and it’s located in the Lost Cave just north of Five Island.

Lost Cave is like a puzzle where you’ll need to go in certain directions to find certain items. For the Lax Incense you’ll want to enter the cave, take the right pathway, then take the bottom pathway. This will lead to a room with a Poké Ball in the center – and this Poké Ball contains the Lax Incense.

But to reach Five Island you must first have the National Pokédex and the Rainbow Pass.

Prerequisites

The Lax Incense isn’t available in FireRed and LeafGreen until late-game. Because to even reach the Lax Incense, you need to be able to access the Lost Cave on Five Island in the Sevii Islands.

The prerequisites for reaching Five Island and getting the Lax Incense are:

Beat the Elite Four
Have the Rainbow Pass and be able to reach Five Island (obtained from Celio after entering the Hall of Fame and receiving the National Pokédex)

Once you have the Rainbow Pass, you can sail to Five Island. Just make sure to bring a Pokémon with Surf, because you’ll need it to reach the Lost Cave.

Lax Incense Location (Step-by-Step)

Task #1: Reach Lost Cave

First things first: we have to get to Five Island.

So head to the Vermilion City dock, and board the Seagallop Ferry.

Select and sail to Five Island then leave the port.

After you leave the port, follow the sand north. This will bring you to the left of the raised ground with the Pokémon Center and buildings on it.

Walk north until you reach the edge of the Island, then use Surf on the water.

Sail north until you reach Resort Gorgeous, then start heading east.

Just east of the tiny island is the actual resort with trainers and a building. Land here and walk across until you reach the eastern edge of the island.

Once you’re on the edge of Resort Gorgeous, use Surf again and continue heading east (you will have to Surf between some rocks.)

Once you thread through the rocks, you’ll eventually reach another tiny island with a cave in its center. This is Lost Cave.

Task #2: Finding The Lax Incense Inside Lost Cave

Head inside Lost Cave, and then take the ladder down into the cave itself.

The Lost Cave is a puzzle with many different items inside of it. Every item has a specific combination of pathways required to reach them.

The Lax Incense combination is easy:

Right
Down

So after you take the first ladder down, head through the right pathway, then the bottom pathway.

After climbing down the ladder at the entrance of Lost Cave, head east through the cave hole

After walking east, walk south to reach the Lax Incense

After you walk through the bottom path, you’ll reach a room with a Poké Ball in the center of the floor.

This Poké Ball is the Lax Incense! So just walk up, pick it up, and enjoy your weird-smelling held item.

What Does The Lax Incense Do?

The Lax Incense’s description in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen

Lax Incense is a held item that reduces the accuracy of any Pokémon targeting the holder by 5%. This effect does stack with other accuracy debuffs, so if the foe’s accuracy has already been reduced with moves like Sand-Attack, then the Lax Incense will decrease it 5% more on top of that.

This means the Lax Incense is a great item to give to Pokémon that already have moves to reduce accuracy.

Granted, 5% may not seem like a large amount at first. But it can be significant when paired with other accuracy-reducing moves.
