In Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, the Lucky Punch held item is found in Sevault Canyon on Seven Island. More specifically, you’ll find the Lucky Punch in a house towards the end of the Canyon. This is the only way to get a Lucky Punch in FRLG, and there are no other methods to get more (aside from trading).

To reach Sevault Canyon, the player must be able to sail to Seven Island from the Vermilion City harbor using the Rainbow Pass.

Prerequisites

The Lucky Punch can be found in a house on Sevault Canyon, so the main prerequisites involve being able to get to Seven Island and reach the Canyon. The exact prerequisites are:

  • Defeat the Elite Four
  • Have the National Pokédex
  • Have the Rainbow Pass and be able to reach Seven Island

Once you can sail to Seven Island from the Vermilion City harbor, you can get your Lucky Punch.

Lucky Punch Location (Step-by-Step)

Task 1: Reaching Sevault Canyon

The first step of getting the Lucky Punch is getting to Sevault Canyon on Seven Island.

So head to the Vermilion City port and take the Seagallop Ferries to Seven Island with the Rainbow Pass.

Once you’re on Seven Island, walk out of the port and then head towards the west side of the island.

There is a staircase leading down toward a wooden bridge. If you walk across this bridge you’ll come to the “Canyon Entrance”.

Head east on the entrance route as far as you can. Eventually you will reach the actual Canyon itself.

There are no twists and turns, so just follow the path until you reach Sevault Canyon (the name will appear in the upper left of your screen.)

Task 2: Finding The Chansey House

Once you’re on the Sevault Canyon Route, make your way east across the grass patch. This part of the route is pretty linear, so just follow it until you reach the two purple-haired trainers in front of a set of stairs.

Defeat the trainers and then walk down the stairs next to them.

After you walk down the stairs, there will be a 2nd, smaller set of stairs to your left. Do not take these stairs.

Instead, continue south across the patch of tall grass.

We need to get up by the NPC in the karate gi on top of the little hill to the left of our screen.

We can get there either by breaking the Rock, or walking around the rock divider.

Either way, make your way up the stairs, past the karate trainer, and then follow the path heading south.

This path is also very linear. So just follow it until you reach a clearing.

When you reach the clearing, just keep walking south until you see another set of stairs to walk down.

Once you walk down these stairs and across another patch of grass, you will see a house with a purple roof.

This house has an NPC inside with their Chansey, and the Lucky Punch is on the table.

Once you have the Lucky Punch you can head to the Safari Zone and look for a Chansey to equip it to.

How Does Lucky Punch Work?

The Lucky Punch is a very unique item, because it only works on one Pokémon – Chansey.

If you give the Lucky Punch held item to a Chansey, then Chansey’s critical-hit ratio will receive a +2 bonus.

The crit chance provided by the Lucky Punch is very significant. But the obvious downside is that it only works on Chansey, and most of the time a held item like Leftovers is better suited to Chansey’s playstyle.

Still, there’s nothing quite like giving the Lucky Chance glove to Chansey and watching it one-shot everyone with infinite crits.
