In Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, you can only get Mystic Waters by purchasing them at the Rocket Game Corner in Celadon City.

Each Mystic Water costs 1,000 Coins, and you can buy as many copies as you want.

Coins can be earned by playing the Slot Machines, or they can be purchased for 20 Poké Dollars per Coin. So if you buy your coins, then one Mystic Water will cost 20,000 Poké Dollars.

Prerequisites

Mystic Water is pretty easy to get, especially if you’re later in the game and have a lot of money saved up.

The prerequisites for obtaining Mystic Water are:

  • Access to Celadon City
  • Have a Coin Case (found in Celadon City)
  • Have 20,000 Poké Dollars or 1,000 Rocket Game Corner Coins

Basically, you’ll just need to reach Celadon City with enough money to buy the Coins you need. Alternatively, you can try your luck with the Slot Machines, but I don’t recommend that method.

How To Get Mystic Waters

If you already know where the Rocket Game Corner is and how it works, then all you need to do is buy (or win) Coins. And then walk into the right-hand building next to the Game Corner, where the cashier on the left will sell you a Mystic Water for 1,000 Coins.

If you’re not sure how the Game Corner works, don’t worry because I’m here to give you the rundown.

The Game Corner (Celadon City)

If you head to Celadon City, the Rocket Game Corner is right in the center of town. It’s the two-part, orange building that is very hard to miss.

The larger section of the building (on the left) is where you can purchase Coins and play slots, while the smaller section on the right is for exchanging those coins for prizes.

Buying or Winning Coins

Once you have a Coin Case, you can enter the Rocket Game Corner on the left, and then walk to the back and talk to the cashier on the right-hand side to purchase some Coins.

500 Coins costs 10,000 Poké Dollars, so we’ll need to spend 20,000 Poké Dollars to buy one Mystic Water for 1,000 Coins.

Alternatively, you can talk to the NPCs around the Slot Machines to get some free Coins, then try your luck at the slots.

However, I highly recommend just buying the Coins outright, since it’s faster and easier to acquire money than coins.

Buying Mystic Waters

Once you have your 1,000 Coins, head next door to the smaller section of the Rocket Game Corner.

There are three cashiers in this building and each of them sells different prizes. We need to talk to the cashier on the left, because they sell the held items.

Once you talk to them, simply select the Mystic Water from the prize menu.

After you buy the Mystic Water, it will be put in your Bag like any other item, and you’ll be able to equip it to whichever Pokémon you want.

What Does Mystic Water Do?

Mystic Water is a held item that boosts the power of the holder’s Water Type moves by 10%.

A 10% power boost can be a somewhat large increase, especially on Pokémon who can deal STAB damage.

So the Mystic Water is a fantastic item to equip to Pokémon like Squirtle (or its evolutions) or any other Water-Type in your party.

But even if you have no Water Type Pokémon, if you have a Pokémon that happens to know a Water-Type move (like a Snorlax with Surf, for example), then the Mystic Water can be a great held item to increase its Water damage as a slight edge in battle.
