1 Trade (RSE)—Must be traded into FRLG from a copy of Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald. Yes

To get a Soul Dew in Pokémon FR/LG, you need to trade the item over from a copy of Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald. To trade the item, the Soul Dew must be given to a Pokémon in RSE, and that Pokémon must be traded over to the copy of FireRed / LeafGreen.

Pokémon can be traded in the trade center of the Pokémon Center in every version of the Game Boy Advance Pokémon games.

Getting Soul Dew

Prerequisites

Before you can trade your Pokémon and the Soul Dew over to FireRed / LeafGreen, you will need a few things, specifically:

  • A copy of Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald and a second console
  • A Link Cable (works with Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald) or a Wireless Adapter (Works with Emerald only)
  • A Pokémon in Ruby / Sapphire / Emerald that’s holding the Soul Dew

If you have the hardware and the item, then you’re ready to trade.

Trading

The first thing you should do is head to the Pokémon Center in both of your Pokémon games. Then make your way to the trade area.

In Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, this means heading upstairs.

There are three attendants upstairs. The left just gives you information, so you can ignore them unless you want to learn a few more details about trading.

The middle attendant lets you enter the Wireless Trading area.

If you don’t have a Wireless Adapter you won’t be able to trade here. Keep in mind that you can only trade wirelessly with Pokémon Emerald. Even if you have the adapter, it will not work with Ruby or Sapphire.

The attendant on the right will let you enter a Link Trade with a Link Cable. This trade will work with any copy of Pokémon, whether it’s Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald.

After you talk to the attendant, you’ll be sent into the Link Center where you can start trading.

Simply sit down at the trade machine and then follow the same steps in Pokémon Ruby / Sapphire / Emerald.

Once both players are ready to trade, communications will begin and you can trade your Pokémon (holding the Soul Dew) from Pokémon RSE to your copy of Pokémon FRLG.

What is Soul Dew?

The Soul Dew is an item specifically created for the Legendary Pokémon Latios and Latias. It raises their defensive stats significantly (by 50%.)

The Soul Dew will not work on any other Pokémon. Other Pokémon can hold the item, but their stats will not be affected.

Is Soul Dew Worth Trading?

The Soul Dew is not worth trading into FRLG. The only reason to trade the Soul Dew from Pokémon RSE to FRLG would be if you also plan on trading over Latios and/or Latias. And that’s too specific of a use case to really be worthwhile.

If you do plan on trading over Latios or Latias, though, then this is a great item to give them – because it really does give a huge defensive bonus to the Pokémon.
