Taunt is a Dark-type Status move that disallows its target from using any Status moves, which includes healing and stat-boosting moves. The move lasts for a total of two turns.

Taunt is at its weakest in Generation III games, as its short duration is a huge drawback.

Although it can still be useful against tanky Pokémon who rely on restoring moves, or against stallers who like to inflict status conditions using moves like Will-O-Wisp or Toxic.

Taunt can be taught to a wide variety of Pokémon, but is at its best in the hands of a speedster.

Speedy Pokémon will be able to use Taunt first if they are able to anticipate a Status move.
