How To Get Twisted Spoons in Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen

  • Abra
  • Kadabra
Yes

Twisted Spoons can only be found as held items on wild Abras and wild Kadabras in FRLG. Each of them has a 5% chance of holding a Twisted Spoon, so to get this item you’ll need to catch (or steal from) an Abra or Kadabra, and then check whether it’s holding a Twisted Spoon (spelled in-game as “TwistedSpoon”).

Abras and Kadabras can be found in both FireRed and LeafGreen, and there’s no limit to how many Twisted Spoons you can get.

The easiest method here is to steal the item from Abras and Kadabras by using moves like Covet and Thief, rather than catching a bunch to check which ones have held items.

Getting Twisted Spoons (All Locations)

Before you begin your hunt for Abra or Kadabra, I recommend getting a Pokémon that can use Thief in battle.

Alternatively, you can catch multiple copies of the Pokémon and then check if it is holding the Twisted Spoon or not. But this will take more time.

If you do not have any space in your party, the Abra or Kadabra you catch will be sent back to your PC, and you’ll need to head all the way to a Pokémon Center just to see if you got the Twisted Spoon or not.

How To Enter Cerulean Cave

Wild Kadabra can only be found in the post-game because its only location is in Cerulean Cave, which is only accessible after you beat the Elite Four and help Celio.

Abra and Kadabra both have a 5% chance of holding Twisted Spoon, so you may be better off just hunting Abra on Route 24.

I will say, though, that I caught nine Abras and not a single one had a Twisted Spoon. On the other hand, the first Kadabra I caught was holding the item. So maybe Kadabra is just luckier.

To enter Cerulean Cave and find Kadabra:

Surf from this spot to reach Cerulean Cave / Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen
Surf from this spot to reach Cerulean Cave
  1. Defeat the Elite Four and bring Celio the Ruby and Sapphire (Post Game)
  2. Cross the yellow bridge north of Cerulean City
  3. Use Surf down the water to the left of the bridge, and head east, then south again
  4. If you haven’t defeated the Elite Four and helped Celio, a blue-haired NPC will be in your way and will not let you pass. If you have completed the prerequisites you will be able to enter Cerulean Cave without issue
  5. Head to 2F or B1 to find wild Kadabras

Remember, Cerulean Cave actually has some pretty tough Pokémon. It’s pretty much the final trainer test, after all.

So make sure that you bring plenty of Ultra Balls, Revives, Max Potions, etc. because you’re going to need them.

What Does the TwistedSpoon Do?

TwistedSpoon is a held item that boosts the power of Psychic-type moves by 10%.

It is great for Pokémon like Alakazam and Gengar that rely heavily on dealing a lot of Psychic damage.

Using held items like the TwistedSpoon is one viable way to give your Pokémon a huge boost to their damage without having to over-level them. And some held items like this are even a little necessary for post-game challenges like the Trainer Tower.
