Where To Get The Lax Incense in Pokémon HG/SS

The location of the Lax Incense in Pokémon HGSS

The only location where you can find a Lax Incense is on Route 38. You’ll need Rock Climb to reach the Lax Incense, which requires all 16 Gym Badges from Johto and Kanto.

The Lax Incense’s primary use is to give it as a held item to a Wobbuffet that you want to lay Wynaut eggs. However, it also has a secondary effect:

Any Pokémon holding the Lax Incense will cause all moves directed against it to have a 10% reduced accuracy. This is the exact same effect as holding a Bright Powder.

Lax Incense Location (Step-by-Step)

To get your Lax Incense, start by traveling to Olivine City. And make sure you’ve got a Pokémon that knows Rock Climb in your party.

Once you’re in the city, you’ll want to leave Olivine City through the north gate onto Route 39.

Follow the path up north until you reach the Rock Climb spot pictured below.

Use your Pokémon to scale it.

After climbing up, follow the path through the trees onto Route 38.

Before long, you’ll see another Rock Climb opportunity heading downward this time. Slide down it.

Just a few steps south of the bottom, you’ll find a Pokéball lying on the ground. This contains your Lax Incense.

See, that wasn’t so hard!

Aside from getting the 16 Gym Badges first, anyway.

Using Lax Incense to Hatch a Baby Wynaut

Once you’ve got the Lax Incense, you’re ready to breed a baby Wynaut of your very own.

To get one, you’ll need to put a female Wobbuffet holding the Lax Incense in the Pokémon Day Care with either:

  • A male Wobbuffet
  • A male Pokémon belonging to the Amorphous Egg Group
  • A Ditto (you can breed either a male or female Wobbuffet with Ditto to get a Wynaut)

If you did everything right, sooner or later your two stored Pokémon will lay an egg. Speak to the Day Care Man outside to retrieve it.

Wynaut eggs take a medium-length amount of time to hatch: this falls between 5,140 and 5,396 steps, to be exact.

Pro Tip: If you have a Pokémon with Flame Body or Magma Armor (Slugma, Magcargo, Magby, and Magmortar all work), you can keep it in your party along with the egg – and this will cause the egg hatch in half the number of steps.
