Head inside the Goldenrod Department Store. Then, take the escalators or the elevator to the 5th floor (5F).

If you are taking the elevator, simply talk to the NPC attendant and select “5F” from the menu.

You should see a single counter directly to the right of the escalators and the elevator exit.

Speak to the NPC behind the counter to bring up the menu for the TMs they have available for sale.

Using TM15 Hyper Beam

Hyper Beam Move Details
Type Normal
Category Special
Power 150
Accuracy 90
PP 5

Hyper Beam is a special Normal-type attack move with 150 base power.

Successfully hitting the opponent with Hyper Beam will require a recharge, preventing you from doing anything on the next turn.

If Hyper Beam misses or fails (such as against Protect or Detect), there will be no need to recharge.

Hyper Beam has immensely high base power, but the recharge turn required makes it risky to use.

Tri-Attack is usually the preferred Normal-type special attack move because it has reliable accuracy, good base power, and the chance to afflict burns, freezing, or paralysis.

Normal-type moves also aren’t popular choices for non-Normal type Pokémon since they cannot hit any weaknesses. They are best for Normal-type Pokémon since they can still benefit from STAB even without weakness coverage.

But even with all these cons, Hyper Beam can still be useful. Its high power can be maximized by Normal-type Pokémon with high Special Attack stats.

It could also be used well by non-Normal types with good Special Attack who need a high-power special attack move for neutral coverage.

Good bulk would be useful to a Hyper Beam user too since it will increase their chances of surviving attacks while they are recharging.

The following Pokémon might be able to use Hyper Beam well:

  • Porygon2
  • Porygon-Z
  • Togekiss
  • Dragonite
  • Clefable
  • Blissey
  • Kingdra
