On the Goldenrod Dept. Store 1st Floor with Girafarig (HeartGold)

TM33 Reflect is one of the TMs that’s only available for sale at the 5th floor of the Goldenrod Department Store.

It costs 2,000 Pokédollars, and you can get multiple copies of this TM as long as you have enough money.

Finding TM33 Reflect

The Goldenrod Department Store is just northeast of Goldenrod City’s south entrance.

It is to the right of Goldenrod City’s Pokémon Center, just across the street.

Head inside the Goldenrod Department Store. Then, take the escalators or the elevator to the 5th floor (5F).

  • If you are taking the elevator, simply talk to the NPC attendant and select “5F” from the menu.
  • If you will be using the escalators, take the upward escalators on each floor until you see a green sign with a number 5 beside the floor’s elevator entrance.

You should see a single counter directly to the right of the escalators and the elevator exit.

Speak to the NPC behind the counter to bring up the menu for the TMs they have available for sale.

PP 30

Reflect is a Psychic-type status move that halves all Physical attack damage sustained by the user’s team. In a Double Battle, Physical attack damage will be reduced by a third instead.

The effect lasts for 5 turns. If the Reflect user is holding Light Clay, the effect will last for 8 turns instead.

Key Takeaways:

  • Watch out for Defog and Brick Break. If an opponent or your ally in a Double Battle successfully uses Defog or Brick Break on the user’s team, Reflect’s effect will be removed.
  • Reflect + Light Screen are a great combo. Reflect can be useful by itself. But it is generally recommended for use together with Light Screen, because then oncoming Physical and Special damage can be reduced.

The best Reflect users also have good Defense and Special Defense. This will help improve their chances of withstanding attacks for long enough to set up Reflect (and Light Screen).

But a fast Pokémon with low Defense but high Special Defense might also be able to use Reflect well. It may be able to outspeed the opponent and use Reflect to improve their survivability to strong Physical attacks.

The Pokémon listed below could all be great choices to teach Reflect to (or Light Screen):

  • Bronzong
  • Slowbro
  • Metagross
  • Espeon
  • Rotom
  • Alakazam
  • Gardevoir
  • Clefable
  • Blissey
  • Meganium
