How To Get Ability Capsules in Pokémon ORAS

Changing Abilities with an Ability Capsule in Pokémon Omega Ruby

There are two ways to obtain an Ability Capsule in ORAS.

  1. You can purchase one for 200 BP at the Battle Maison’s Exchange Service Corner (best method)
  2. Or you also have a small chance (1%) to get one from Wally after defeating him in a rematch at the Battle Maison

Using an Ability Capsule on a Pokémon changes its Ability from one of its standard Abilities to its other standard Ability.

If the Pokémon you use it on only has one standard Ability, it won’t have any effect. And the Ability Capsule will never change a standard Ability to a Hidden Ability.

You can only use an Ability Capsule from the Bag outside of combat. It is consumed after use.

Only use an Ability Capsule when you have to. The best use for it is to change the ability of an otherwise perfect, battle-ready Pokémon. Or shiny Pokémon with the wrong standard ability are also an excellent time to use an Ability Capsule.

Method 1: Battle Maison BP Shop

This method requires you to have access to the Battle Maison, located at the Battle Resort. It’s the island accessible after the player obtains the S.S. Ticket, which is obtained after completing the Delta Episode.

The Battle Maison is a battle facility like the Battle Tower in other generations. Winning battles here grant BP or Battle Points, which you can exchange for various items at the Exchange Service Corner, located in the entrance hall.

Two attendants sell different types of rare items for BP. The right attendant sells held items used in battle, while the left attendant sells Vitamins, EV training items, and evolution items. This also includes the Ability Capsule.

This method only works if you’ve achieved a 50-win streak in the Battle Maison.

When you do, Wally will appear in the lobby of the Battle Maison for a rematch with you. He will challenge you with a pretty powerful team:

Though he spends most of his time playing a wide variety of games, Pokémon has always been his favorite. When he’s not playing games or writing guides, you can find him watching anime and collecting trading cards.
