Altaria’s Mega Stone (Altarianite) will be given to you by an NPC standing in Lilycove City when you show him an Altaria in your party. The NPC you’re looking for will be standing outside a building with a blue roof, located east of Lilycove City’s Pokémon Center.
If you don’t already have an Altaria, the easiest way to get one is to catch a wild Swablu on Route 114 or Route 115, then grind it up to level 35 where it evolves into Altaria.
You can get the Mega Stone as soon as you arrive in Lilycove City, which you can only access after obtaining the sixth Gym badge.
Altarianite Location (Step-by-Step)
East of Lilycove City’s Pokémon Center is the Contest Spectacular Trainer Fan Club. If you talk to the Collector standing outside the fan club, he’ll quiz you about Lisia the Idol’s favorite Pokémon.
If you show him an Altaria, he will give you Altaria’s Mega Stone.
Note: If you haven’t been to Lilycove City yet, make sure you’ve first:
- Obtained the sixth Gym Badge from Winona, the Gym Leader from Fortree City
- Explored Route 121
And here’s a step-by-step guide to locate the NPC and get your Mega Stone:
Step 1: Start from Lilycove City’s west entrance by going east from Route 121.

Step 2: Follow the path heading east, passing by the Pokémon Center.

Step 3: At the end of the path, talk to the Collector outside the fan club. Show him an Altaria in your party to obtain the Altarianite.

How Does the Altarianite Work?

Mega Stones like the Altarianite are held items that allow certain Pokémon to Mega Evolve, granting them a massive boost to their base stats.
Some Pokémon also change types upon Mega Evolving. Altaria, after Mega Evolution, becomes a Dragon/Fairy-type Pokémon.
Most Mega Evolutions also change the Pokémon’s ability, which lasts until the battle concludes.
When Altaria Mega Evolves into Mega Altaria, it changes its ability to Pixilate, which converts Normal-type moves to Fairy-type moves. Pixilate also boosts those moves by 20%.
Mega Altaria’s well-rounded base stats and wide movepool make it an impressive offensive threat.
With its access to Dragon Dance and a Pixilate-boosted Return, Mega Altaria can fill the role of a fearsome bulky sweeper.
It can also learn:
- Roost, a solid recovery move
- Cotton Guard, a move which raises the user’s Defense by three stages
Combined with its stellar typing, Mega Altaria makes for a great defensive Pokémon.
