Pokémon ORAS Balm Mushrooms: Locations + Uses

Balm Mushrooms can only be obtained inside Petalburg Woods as a hidden item. You can only get one Balm Mushroom at a time, but it occasionally reappears in the same spot.

Balm Mushrooms have no practical purpose other than to be sold for money. So feel free to collect them regularly & sell them whenever you have the chance to visit any Poké Mart.

Balm Mushroom Location (Step-by-Step)

Petalburg Woods is a forest between Petalburg City and Rustboro City, situated in the middle of Route 104. Since you can only find Balm Mushrooms in Petalburg Woods, you should already have:

  • Helped Wally catch his first Pokémon in Petalburg City
  • Explored Route 104’s south side

Since the item is hidden, it might be hard to find if you don’t know where to look.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on where it’s located:

Step 1: Start by heading to Petalburg Woods’ entrance on Route 104’s south side.

Step 2: Enter Petalburg Woods and follow the path to the west, then start moving upwards to continue along this path.

Step 3: Continue following the path to the east. If it’s your first time in Petalburg Woods, prepare to fight Team Aqua/Magma after you talk to the scientist up ahead.

Step 4: Follow the path going up, and then finally follow the path heading west. At the end of the path, interact with the hidden Balm Mushroom located at the exact spot marked below.

What Are Balm Mushrooms For?

Other generations of Pokémon games had NPCs referred to as item maniacs. They’d buy certain items from the player at a much higher price than what Poké Mart clerks would sell them for.

Unfortunately, there are no item maniacs in Pokémon Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire.

However, Balm Mushrooms still sell for a reasonable 6,250 Pokédollars when you sell them in any Poké Mart across Hoenn.
