Banette’s Mega Stone Banettite is located beside a stone structure near the summit of Mt. Pyre. The Banettite will be on the ground of a narrow path to the right-hand side just before reaching the top of Mt. Pyre.
You’ll also need HM03 Surf to get through Route 122 and reach Mt. Pyre’s summit area.
Banettite Location (Step-by-Step)
Mt. Pyre is a Pokémon memorial site located inside a mountain on Route 122. It’s a structure you can access through an entrance at the mountain’s base.
The building inside Mt. Pyre has four floors. On the third floor, there’s an exit that leads to the mountain’s summit. We’ll be using this exit to reach Mt. Pyre’s exterior.
Tip: Unlike most Mega Stones, which require you to finish the event that takes place in the Cave of Origin, you will only need to reach the top of Mt. Pyre to obtain the Banettite. To do that, make sure you already have access to Route 121 and a Pokémon that knows Surf.
If you’re ready to go, then we’ll reach Mt. Pyre starting from Route 121.
Step 1: Start by following the path heading east from the Route 121 sign.

Step 2: Head down the stairs when the path curves southward, and then use the route’s south exit to reach some water.

Step 3: Use HM03 Surf on Route 122 going south.

Step 4: Follow the path heading south, then curve right until Mt. Pyre’s entrance is visible.

Step 5: Disembark here and go through the cavern hole to enter Mt. Pyre.

Step 6: On the first floor, follow the hallway up and then walk toward the northwest side of the room.

Step 7: Climb the staircase in the top-left corner near the Hex Maniac.

Step 8: On the second floor, make your way toward the right side of the room.

Step 9: Climb up another set of stairs here all the way to the right-hand side.

Step 10: On the third floor there are two exits.
The exit located along the southern edge of the room leads to the mountain’s summit outside, and that’s what we’re looking for.

Step 11: Head south in this room and use the exit found at the end of the hallway.

Step 12: Once you’re back outside, follow the path heading east.

Step 13: Climb up two sets of stairs when you see them. These will take you closer to the summit.

Step 14: Follow the path along to the left and continue climbing Mt. Pyre by heading up another set of stairs (pictured below).

Step 15: There’s a few more steps to take, but we’ve marked the exact path below that you should follow. These staircases will take you to Mt. Pyre’s summit.

Step 16: Once you get to a narrow pathway with rock walls on either side, you’ll eventually come to a final set of stairs.
Instead of climbing up the stairs, enter the narrow pathway that you’ll find on the right, directly before the staircase.

Step 17: Keep going right and look for a sparkling item on the ground to obtain the Banettite.
You’ll find it in a corner near an old weathered structure of rock (pictured below).

How Does the Banettite Work?

Mega Stones like the Banettite are held items that allow certain Pokémon to Mega Evolve, granting them a massive boost to their base stats.
Most Mega Evolutions also change the Pokémon’s ability, which lasts until the battle concludes.
When Banette Mega Evolves into Mega Banette, it changes its ability to Prankster. This gives priority to the user’s status moves.
So with Prankster, moves like Will-O-Wisp and Taunt are great options to take advantage of Mega Banette’s Prankster.
Mega Banette also possesses one of the highest base Attacks in the game, making it an effective physical attacker. It may not be that fast, but it does have access to solid priority moves like Shadow Sneak and Sucker Punch.
However, its lackluster bulk leaves much to be desired.
So whether you use it on your team will largely depend on how much you like Banette, and how well a strong attacker can fit into your team.
Tip: You can also use Mega Banette to take advantage of the Prankster + Destiny Bond combo, which threatens your opponent into a double KO situation. Although it’s fairly situational and may not always be worthwhile.
