The Hidden Power Checker NPC is an old woman residing in the 2nd house to the right of the Pokémon Center in Fortree City. There are 3 women in this house, and the woman on the right is the Hidden Power checker that can reveal the Hidden Power type for any Pokémon in your party.
This is also the same house where you obtain TM10 Hidden Power.
Hidden Power Checker Location (Step-by-Step)
Fortree City is between Route 119 and Route 120. It features treehouses with rope bridges connecting each structure in the city.
You can reach Fortree after you’ve met the following prerequisites:
- Obtained the fifth Gym Badge from Norman, the Gym Leader in Petalburg City.
- Dealt with Team Aqua/Magma at the Weather Institute on Route 119.
- Defeated your Rival on Route 119.
Once you’re able to access Fortree City then you’ll immediately have access to the Hidden Power Checker. Here’s where to find her:
Step 1: From the Pokémon Center, head east and climb up the nearby ladder.

Step 2: Once you’ve climbed to the top of the ladder, cross the bridge and go inside that house (it’s second from the left).

Step 3: Inside the house you’ll find three elderly women. The woman on the far right is the Hidden Power Checker.

Getting TM10 Hidden Power
If you don’t have TM10 Hidden Power yet and want to obtain it too, you can luckily get it from the same house. Just talk to the elderly woman on the far left, who wants to play a coin game with you.
She will ask you to guess which hand she’s holding a coin in three times in a row. The correct pattern is always the same:
- Right Hand
- Right Hand
- Left Hand
Once you’ve guessed correctly three times in a row, the elderly woman will reward you with the Hidden Power TM.

What Does the Hidden Power Checker Do?

The Hidden Power Checker can reveal the specific type of your Pokémon’s Hidden Power. This is a move that varies in type based on each Pokémon’s individual values (IVs).
Using the Hidden Power Checker’s service is pretty straightforward:
Just talk to her, select a Pokémon from your party, and she’ll tell you its Hidden Power type. This can be done regardless of whether the Pokémon currently knows the move Hidden Power or not.
Hidden Power is a valuable move that some Pokémon can utilize to gain an edge against Pokémon they’re usually weak against. The most sought-after Hidden Power types are typically Ice, Fire, and Ground, because they provide a wide coverage against many commonly-used Pokémon in competitive battles.
Fun Fact: A Fairy-type Hidden Power is impossible in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire. This is due to the fact that the method for determining Hidden Power’s type predates the introduction of Fairy-types, and it has remained unchanged from those previous generations.
