Where To Get the Lustrous Orb in Pokémon ORAS

Palkia in battle in Pokémon ORAS

In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the Lustrous Orb is hidden in an underwater trench on Route 129. So you’ll need HM07 Dive to get it. And before you can use Dive outside of battle you’ll need to get the Mind Badge by defeating the seventh Gym in Mossdeep City.

The Lustrous Orb is Palkia’s Legendary item, which is an item tied to a particular Legendary Pokémon. If Palkia holds the Lustrous Orb, it boosts the power of Dragon and Water-type attacks by 20%.

Dialga’s Adamant Orb and Giratina’s Griseous Orb can also be found in other underwater trenches on nearby routes. Their respective Orbs also boost the moves of their corresponding types.

Lustrous Orb Location (Step-by-Step)

The Lustrous Orb is a hidden item that won’t be visible in the overworld. Since you can’t use the Dowsing Machine underwater, you’ll need to tap the A button in the general location of where the item is supposed to be until you get it.

Before leaving to get the Lustrous Orb, make sure you’ve first:

  • Obtained the seventh Gym Badge from Liza and Tate, Mossdeep City’s Gym Leaders
  • Brought a Pokémon with HM03 Surf
  • Brought a Pokémon with HM07 Dive

If you’re all set, start by flying over to Route 129.

Step 1: Surf going south onto the water, then use Dive to go underwater in the nearby diving spot (pictured below).

Step 2: Once you’re underwater, go east, then start moving upwards toward the patch of seaweed by the north wall.

Step 3: Interact with the Lustrous Orb hidden in the top-right corner up ahead. The orb will not be visible, but it will be located on a tile behind the square block of seaweed.

Lustrous Orb Details

In competitive battles, Palkia is primarily a Special Sweeper. It’s a no-brainer given Palkia’s high Special Attack and Speed stat coupled with its wide movepool.

Notable non-STAB moves Palkia can learn include Thunder and Fire Blast, which is quite rare for a Water-type.

Palkia can also be a Mixed Sweeper, as its base Attack is still relatively high. You can switch to using physical moves once you’ve lowered your Special Attack by using Draco Meteor once or twice.

The Lustrous Orb is definitely a good option for Palkia since it significantly boosts already powerful moves like Hydro Pump, Draco Meteor, and Spacial Rend.

Life Orb is also a great alternative for Palkia if you want more damage at the cost of a bit of HP.
