How To Get the Sharpedonite in Pokémon ORAS

Mega Sharpedo in battle in Pokémon Alpha Sapphire

You’ll get Sharpedo’s Mega Stone (Sharpedonite) at different points in the game depending on which version you’re playing.

In Alpha Sapphire, Archie will give you the Sharpedonite in the Team Aqua Hideout during the Delta Episode.

In Omega Ruby, Aqua Leader Archie will give you the Sharpedonite when you first arrive at the Battle Resort. The Battle Resort is an island that you can also only access after finishing the Delta Episode in the post-game.

This guide offers a step-by-step tutorial on how to get the Mega Stone in both games.

Sharpedonite Location (Alpha Sapphire)

After you beat the Elite Four and become Champion, you can play through the Delta Episode. This is about a meteor that’s headed straight for Hoenn, and it’s up to you to stop it.

In the Delta Episode, you will eventually have to go back to the Team Aqua Hideout, which is in the easternmost part of Lilycove City.

To get Sharpedo’s Mega Stone in AS, you’re going to have to explore this place again to find Zinnia and Archie. You can also expect to encounter and fight Team Aqua Grunts along the way.

Step 1: Enter Team Aqua’s Hideout, which is directly to the east of Lilycove City using Surf.

Sharpedonite Location (Omega Ruby)

After completing the Delta Episode, Norman in Littleroot Town will give you the S.S. Ticket. The S.S. Ticket enables you to travel to the Battle Resort aboard the S.S. Tidal.

When you first arrive at Battle Resort, you’ll be greeted by your rival, Wally. Aqua Leader Archie and his Admins will also be present. After a brief conversation, Archie will give you the Sharpedonite.

So when you’re ready to do this, just fly to a nearby harbor (either Slateport or Lilycove City).

Step 1: Show the attendant your S.S Ticket and select “The Battle Resort”.

How the Sharpedonite Works

Most Mega Evolutions change the Pokémon’s ability, which lasts until the battle concludes.

When Sharpedo Mega Evolves into Mega Sharpedo, it changes its ability to Strong Jaw, which boosts the power of biting moves by 50%.

Mega Sharpedo is a great late-game sweeper because of its high base Attack. Its new ability, Strong Jaw, also makes moves like Crunch and Ice Fang more lethal. You also have the choice to be a mixed attacker, thanks to its Special Attack stat, which is surprisingly high.

Using Protect first before Mega Evolving is a common tactic when using Mega Sharpedo. Sharpedo’s Speed Boost effectively grants it a free +1 to its Speed when you do this.

Is Mega Sharpedo Worth Using?

While Mega Sharpedo appears to be a fantastic Pokémon on paper, in reality, it isn’t all that great.

Mega Sharpedo is essentially forced to use Protect due to its weak defenses and passable Speed when not using Speed Boost.

This consumes a move slot, and can make your moves extremely predictable.

Even worse, once Mega Sharpedo is forced to switch out, it loses its increased Speed and is much easier to outspeed.
