How To Get TM04 Calm Mind in Pokémon ORAS

Using Calm Mind in Battle (Pokémon ORAS)

You can obtain TM04 Calm Mind by defeating twin Gym Leaders Liza and Tate. Liza and Tate are the seventh Gym Leaders in Hoenn, located in Mossdeep City. They specialize in using Psychic-type Pokémon.

As far as the TM, Calm Mind raises both Special Attack and Special Defense at once. It’s an excellent move to set up a battle with, as it improves both your offensive and defensive capabilities.

TM04 Calm Mind is a Psychic-type status move that boosts the user’s Special Attack and Special Defense by one stage.

You can raise any particular stat up to six times; here’s how much each stage modifies the stat value:

Stage Main Stat
0 x1
1 x1.5
2 x2.0
3 x2.5
4 x3.0
5 x3.5
6 x4.0

Another move comparable to Calm Mind is Nasty Plot.

Nasty Plot increases the user’s Special Attack by two stages instead of one, but it doesn’t increase Special Defense.

While a more significant boost in damage can be good for some Pokémon, it may still be worth considering running Calm Mind instead, as boosting your Special Defense may be the difference between surviving an attack or fainting.

Usually, Calm Mind is more suitable for Pokémon that already possess strong defensive stats and typing. This can turn once-passive Pokémon like Clefable and Reuniclus into powerful bulky sweepers.
