TM100 Confide can be bought for 5,000 Pokédollars at the traveling TM Shop in Slateport Market, an outdoor bazaar in Slateport City. The traveling TM Shop clerk sells other TMs as well. You can buy the TMs as soon as you have access to Slateport City.
When used, Confide lowers the target’s Special Attack stat. The move does not miss; it even goes through moves like Protect.
That said, Confide is a virtually useless move. Its effect is insignificant and isn’t worth wasting a move slot on.
Although the move does bypass Protect, making it somewhat usable in Double Battles where Protect is much more common.
TM100 Confide Location
Slateport City is a port city on the southern coast of the Hoenn region. The city is first accessible when you head north from the beach on Route 109. Slateport City is also accessible from Route 110 on the north and Route 134 on the east.
On the southwest side of Slateport City is Slateport Market, an outdoor bazaar with stalls selling various items.
And since TM100 is only sold in Slateport Market, you’re going to need access to the city first. So before going to the market, first make sure that you’ve:
- Obtained the second Gym Badge from Brawly, Dewford Town’s Gym Leader
- Unlocked the option for Mr. Briney to take you to Route 109 (near Slateport City)
If you’ve already done that, head over to Slateport City.
Step 1: From Slateport City’s Pokémon Center, follow the left path heading south.
Step 2: Then, go through Slateport Market’s north entrance.
Step 3: Go to the first tent on the right side of the market. Under the blue tent, a clerk will sell various TMs.
Along with TM100 Confide, this clerk will also sell the following TMs:
TM | Price |
---|---|
TM01 Hone Claws | 5,000 |
TM73 Thunder Wave | 5,000 |
TM76 Struggle Bug | 5,000 |
TM100 Confide | 5,000 |

Confide is a Normal-type Status move that lowers the target’s Special Attack by one stage.
Any stat can be lowered up to six times; here’s how much each stage modifies a stat value:
Stage | Main Stat |
---|---|
0 | x1 |
-1 | x0.66 |
-2 | x0.5 |
-3 | x0.4 |
-4 | x0.33 |
-5 | x0.285 |
-6 | x0.25 |
The move ignores accuracy checks, making it guaranteed to land.
Confide will also ignore protecting moves such as Protect, Detect, and Spiky Shield.
Confide will only miss if the target is in the middle of using two-turn moves like Dig, Dive, or Fly. Pokémon with the ability Soundproof are also unaffected by Confide.
So is it worth using?
Not really.
Yet despite being a horrible move overall, it can be a bit useful in Double Battles. Since Confide goes through Protect, you can punish a Pokémon by successfully predicting their use of Protect.
One good thing about Confide is its wide accessibility. Confide can be learned by every Pokémon, except for the Pokémon listed below:
