In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, TM29 Psychic is located on a ledge on Ever Grande City’s east side. However, you can only access this side of the city by using a hidden exit found inside Victory Road.
Psychic has always been an all-around great attack, even in competitive battles. The move deals damage with a slight chance of lowering the opposing Pokémon’s Special Defense. It’s the go-to move for most Psychic-type special attackers.
TM29 Psychic Location (Step-by-Step)
When you reach Ever Grande City for the first time, you’ll need to climb a massive waterfall to reach the Ever Grande City Pokémon Center and the entrance to Victory Road. This complex cave also contains the only path that leads to TM29.
To fully explore Victory Road, you will need Pokémon that know the following HMs:
Pokémon that know TM70 Flash and HM05 Waterfall can also make traversing the entire cave easier, but neither of those are required.
If you’re ready to get your TM, fly over to Ever Grande City’s Pokémon Center to start.
Step 1: Enter Victory Road located northwest of your location outside the Pokécenter.
Step 2: Once you’re inside, Surf forward here to enter the next room.
Step 3: Disembark on the land ahead and start heading north.
Step 4: Use HM04 Strength to push the boulder into the hole.
Step 5: Head west until you reach the Ace Trainer, and start heading north beyond their location.
Step 6: Climb up the stairs you’ll find to your right.
Step 7: Cross the bridge going west, and then climb down the ladder.
Step 8: If you want to, you can use TM70 Flash to illuminate this part of the cave.
But either way, you’ll be using HM04 Strength to push the boulder (located on the left) into the corner. Check the screenshot below for details.
Step 9: Push the other boulder in the bottom-right corner over to the right. Then take a few more steps south, eventually turning east to follow the path.
Step 10: Continue following the path going northeast.
Step 11: Wrap around the path until you see a set of stairs that lead to a ladder. Climb up the ladder located next to the Expert NPC.
Step 12: On top of the ladder you’ll want to move past another trainer, then cross the bridge heading east.
Step 13: Then follow the path going south.
Step 14: At the end of the path, climb down the ladder.
Step 15: Keep moving south until you see a body of water. Exit Victory Road by surfing south here.
Step 16: Once you’re outside, move south and surf on the water. TM29 Psychic should be on a ledge to your right.
Psychic Details + Uses
|Psychic Move Details|
|PP||10 (max. 16)|
Psychic is a Special Psychic-type move with a 10% chance of lowering the target’s Special Defense by one stage.
Any stat can be lowered up to six times; here’s how much each stage modifies a stat value:
Lowering a target’s Special Defense will make it very hard for any tank to take more damage without fainting.
While the Special Defense drop rarely lands, it just might win you the fight when it does happen.
In competitive battles, Psychic remains one of the best moves of its type. With a solid base power of 90 and perfect accuracy, it simply has no drawback.
Despite having a lot of other options, most Psychic-type special attackers tend to run either Psychic or Psyshock. Psyshock is the Psychic alternative that’s better against Pokémon with a lower Defense stat.
Since Psychic is only super-effective against Fighting and Poison-types, it doesn’t give a whole lot of coverage. Even though a lot of non-Psychic types can learn TM29, Psychic sees very little usage outside of Pokémon that benefit from Psychic-type Same-type Attack Bonus (STAB).
