TM40 Aerial Ace is sold in Mauville City’s PokéMart by an NPC clerk. This same clerk also sells other useful TMs for 10,000 Pokédollars each. This PokéMart is open as soon as you have access to Mauville City, so make sure you’ve explored Slateport City and Route 110 first.
Aerial Ace is a Flying-type move that does not miss. The move is guaranteed to hit, no matter how low your accuracy is or how high your opponent’s evasiveness is.
It’s a good move that’s learned by many Flying and non-Flying-types alike.
TM40 Aerial Ace Location
Since TM40 Aerial Ace is sold in Mauville City, you’re going to need access to the city.
So make sure you’ve first:
- Obtained the second Gym Badge from Brawly, Dewford Town’s Gym Leader
- Dealt with Team Aqua/Magma in Slateport City
- Fought your Rival in Route 110
When you’ve done all that, enter Mauville City through its south entrance on Route 110.
The layout for Mauville City can be quite confusing, so here’s where Mauville City’s PokéMart is located:
Step 1: Enter Mauville City’s south entrance.
Step 2: Head outside to Square Tower.
Step 3: Enter the PokéMart up ahead, east of the Pokémon Center.
Step 4: Talk to the clerk at the back wall (furthest from the entrance) to buy TM40 Aerial Ace.

Aerial Ace is a physical Flying-type move that bypasses accuracy checks to secure a hit. However, it does not hit targets that are in the middle of using two-turn moves, like Fly, Dive or Dig. Protect can still block it as well.
It’s not that good of a move, as its low base power is hard to justify slotting it in your Pokémon’s moveset.
Its effect is also situational, since accuracy-lowering and evasiveness-boosting strategies are rarely used.
One good thing about the move is that a surprising number of non-Flying-type Pokémon can also learn it, which makes it a useful move that provides possible coverage against types you may be weak against.
Tip: The ability Technician raises the power of moves with a base power of 60 or less by 50%. This boosts Aerial Ace’s base power to a whopping 90. This is especially good with Scyther, as he also gains STAB (Same-type Attack Bonus) from being a Flying-type.
Here are all the Pokémon who can learn Aerial Ace that also possess the ability Technician:
- Meowth
- Persian
- Scyther
- Scizor
- Hitmontop
- Ambipom
