You can obtain TM48 Round by talking to the bartender NPC inside Crooner’s Café, which is a Café on the western side of Mauville City.
You’ll be able to get this TM as soon as you can access Mauville City.
TM48 Round Location (Step-by-Step)
You can find Crooner’s Café on the west side of Mauville City. Inside, the bartender will give you the TM for Round when you talk to her.
You’re going to need access to the city to get there. So you’ll need to have:
- Obtained the second Gym Badge from Brawly, Dewford Town’s Gym Leader
- Dealt with Team Aqua/Magma in Slateport City
- Fought your Rival in Route 110
When you’ve done all that, enter Mauville City through its south entrance on Route 110 (or fly there if that’s faster!)
The layout for Mauville City can be quite confusing, so here’s a step-by-step guide on where Crooner’s Café is located:
Step 1: Enter Mauville City’s south entrance.

Step 2: Go straight and head to the outside towards Square Tower.

Step 3: Go back inside the city using the entrance on the left.

Step 4: Once you’re back inside, start heading south past the man standing outside the closed shop.

Step 5: The very next store after the male NPC is Crooner’s Café.
Enter Crooner’s Café and look for the bartender (blonde NPC standing behind the counter).

Step 6: Talk to the bartender to obtain TM48 Round.

TM48 Round Details + Uses

Type | Normal |
Category | Special |
Power | 60 |
Accuracy | 100% |
PP | 15 (max. 24) |
TM48 Round is a Special Normal-type move that deals damage.
If another Pokémon uses Round before the user on a single turn, the user will use Round directly after it (regardless of Priority or Speed). Also, the base power of each consecutive use of Round except the first Round will be doubled to 120.

Since Round’s effect needs two or more Pokémon to use it, it’s only usable in Double and Triple Battles.
However, the doubled base power of the second Round isn’t a good enough reason to let your Pokémon use the same move.
It can’t even be used as a coverage move because no Pokémon is weak to Normal-type moves.
Because there isn’t a situation where Round can be used effectively, it’s really not worth using at all. Even during a typical in-game playthrough, Round isn’t worth considering much for most team comps.
Sound-Based Moves
Certain moves, like Round, are classified as Sound-Based Moves.
Some moves and abilities interact with Sound-Based Moves. While relatively limited in this current generation, it was expanded upon in the games after Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
Here’s a look at a couple other Sound-based moves & abilities other than Round.
#1: Substitute (Move)

While a Pokémon is under the effect of the move Substitute, Sound-Based Moves will ignore the decoy, directly affecting/damaging the target.
#2: Soundproof (Ability)

A Pokémon with the ability Soundproof makes them immune to Sound-Based Moves.
The following Pokémon have Soundproof as an available ability:
Pokémon | Hidden Ability |
---|---|
Voltorb | No |
Electrode | No |
Mr. Mime | No |
Whismur | No |
Loudred | No |
Exploud | No |
Shieldon | Yes |
Bastiodon | Yes |
Mime Jr. | No |
Snover | Yes |
Abomasnow | Yes |
Bouffalant | Yes |
Is Round Worth Using?
Round is a damage-dealing Normal-type move that gets stronger when it’s used by other Pokémon on the same turn. The boost in base power only applies to the Pokémon using Round after the initial use of the move.
Round is too situational to be useful. Its effect can only be reliably used during Double and Triple Battles; even then, it may not be worth using.
Even during your playthrough, there are only a few instances where you’re challenged to a Double or Triples Battle. Round may waste a slot for a better move your Pokémon can learn.
