TM52 Focus Blast can be bought for 30,000 Pokédollars on the fourth floor of the Lilycove Department Store. Both clerks on the department store’s fourth floor also sell other TMs, so there’s a lot of moves you can get here.
There are no other locations to get TM52 other than Lilycove. But since TMs are re-usable in Gen 6, you only need one copy.
Focus Blast is a damage-dealing Fighting-type move with a slight chance of lowering the target’s Special Defense stat.
In competitive battles, Focus Blast can be a great coverage move for any Special attacker that can learn it. Though, its low accuracy does prevent it from being more widely used.
TM52 Focus Blast Location (Step-by-Step)
The Lilycove Department Store is a multi-level PokéMart located on the north side of Lilycove City, a coastal city east of Route 121.
If you haven’t been to Lilycove City yet, make sure you’ve first:
- Obtained the sixth Gym Badge from Winona, the Gym Leader from Fortree City
- Explored Route 121
Once you’re ready, head to Lilycove City’s entrance through Route 121 (or just fly to the Pokecenter).
Step 1: Head east until you pass by Lilycove City’s Pokémon Center.

Step 2: Before you climb up the staircase, be prepared to battle your Rival (if this is your first time in the city).

Step 3: After you win the battle, climb up the staircase and head north.

Step 4: You’ll see a big building with double sliding doors – this is the Lilycove Department Store. Head inside.

Step 5: Using the elevator in the corner, go to the fourth floor of the Department Store.

Step 6: On the fourth floor, head east and the top clerk behind the counter will sell various TMs including TM52 Focus Blast.

The top clerk sells various damage-dealing TMs, while the bottom clerk sells defensive status TMs. Here’s a complete list of what they sell:

TM52 Focus Blast is a Special Fighting-type move with a 10% chance of lowering the target’s Special Defense by one stage.
Any stat in ORAS can be lowered up to six times; here’s how much each stage modifies a stat value:
Stage | Main Stat |
---|---|
0 | x1 |
-1 | x0.66 |
-2 | x0.5 |
-3 | x0.4 |
-4 | x0.33 |
-5 | x0.285 |
-6 | x0.25 |
Lowering a target’s Special Defense will make it very hard for any tank to take more damage without fainting. While the Special Defense drop rarely lands, it might win you the fight when it does happen.
Even with an incredible base power of 120, its pitiful accuracy of 70 holds back Focus Blast from being practical.
But if you’re willing to risk missing a move, landing a Focus Blast can turn the tables in a battle.
Since most Fighting-type Pokémon are Physical attackers, only a handful of Fighting-types can use Focus Blast effectively. However, Focus Blast is a move that a wide variety of non-Fighting-type Pokémon can use.
Notably, a lot of Psychic-types can learn Focus Blast. The move is an excellent answer for Dark-type Pokémon, which Psychic-types are weak to.
Tip: Be wary of Pokémon with the Ability Bulletproof, as it makes them immune to ball and bomb moves, including Focus Blast. As of Generation 6, only Chespin, Quilladin, and Chesnaught have the Bulletproof Ability.
