You can find TM81 X-Scissor at the top of a waterfall deep inside Victory Road. You’ll need Pokémon in your party that know HM03 Surf, HM04 Strength, and HM05 Waterfall to reach the TM’s exact location.
And having a Pokémon that also knows TM70 Flash can make traversing the cave easier, but Flash is not required.
TM81 X-Scissor Location (Step-by-Step)
You can only access Victory Road once you’ve at least reached Ever Grande City.
If you already have access to Ever Grande City’s Pokémon Center, then just be sure to bring Pokémon that know the following TM/HMs before heading out to get X-Scissor:
- HM03 Surf
- HM04 Strength
- HM05 Waterfall
- TM70 Flash (Optional)
Tip: To leave Victory Road quickly after you get the TM, you could also bring a Pokémon with Dig or bring an Escape Rope.
Once you’re ready, we’ll get started from Ever Grande City’s Pokémon Center.
Step 1: Enter the cave entrance to Victory Road, located northwest of the PokéCenter.
Step 2: Upon entering Victory Road, use HM03 Surf and head north on the body of water to reach the next room.
Step 3: When you’ve reached the next room, disembark at the water’s edge and proceed north.
Step 4: When you encounter a boulder blocking your path, use HM04 Strength to push it into the hole.
Step 5: After moving the boulder, go north up a flight of stairs. Then turn west until you reach an Ace Trainer NPC (ignoring the 2nd set of stairs).
Step 6: Head north up from the Ace Trainer, turn right and climb up the nearest staircase.
Step 7: Cross the bridge to the west after climbing the stairs, and then descend the ladder.
Step 8: If you want to, you can use TM70 Flash to illuminate this part of the cave.
But either way, you’ll need to use HM04 Strength to head a few paces down from the ladder & then push the boulder on the left into the corner.
Step 9: After pushing the first boulder, you’ll need to push the other boulder one space to the right.
Step 10: After pushing both boulders, continue along the path going south & eventually wrapping around to head northeast.
Step 11: You’ll eventually find a ladder leading back up to the first floor, so take this ladder once you reach it (it’s located west of an Expert NPC).
Step 12: Now back on the first floor, proceed north past the Ace Trainer and cross the bridge to the east.
Step 13: Follow the path south down some stairs after crossing the bridge.
Step 14: Just keep moving south and at the path’s end, descend the next ladder on your left to return underground.
Step 15: Once you’re back underground, head south and surf across the water to reach the left side of the room.
Step 16: Once you’ve crossed to the other side of the water, move up the path and follow the very left-hand path (ignore the boulders).
Step 17: Keep going north and go up some stairs, then head left until you reach another staircase.
Go down those stairs and proceed south from there.
Step 18: Eventually you’ll see a Dragon Tamer NPC near the base of another staircase.
Ascend the stairs and you’ll quickly see another ladder leading back to the first floor – take this ladder back up.
Step 19: Once you’re back on the first floor, head up the nearby stairs and then cross a bridge heading east.
Step 20: Then keep following the path up and you’ll soon come to another wooden bridge – cross this over to the east as well.
Step 21: After crossing both bridges, walk past the pair of trainers and move to the north side of the room by following the path along.
Step 22: In the northernmost part of the room, climb up one last ladder – this leads to the second floor of Victory Road.
Step 23: Upon reaching the second floor, cross the bridge directly to your left going west.
Step 24: Then cross one last bridge going north.
Step 25: After crossing both bridges, turn to the left and Surf on the body of water to your left (you should see a big waterfall nearby).
Once you’re in the water use HM05 Waterfall to scale the waterfall.
Step 26: Once you’re on top of the waterfall, just land on the right side and pick up the nearby TM for X-Scissor.
TM81 X-Scissor Details + Uses
X-Scissor Move Details | |
---|---|
Type | Bug |
Category | Physical |
Power | 80 |
Accuracy | 100% |
PP | 15 (max. 24) |
TM81 X-Scissor is a Physical Bug-type move with 80 Power, 100% accuracy, and no secondary effect.
X-Scissor is a reliable STAB move for physical Bug-type Pokémon, since it comes with a decent base power of 80 and perfect accuracy.
However, if a Bug-type Pokémon in your party can learn Megahorn, that might be a better choice in most situations.
Megahorn’s significantly higher base power of 120 could outweigh the slight drop in accuracy (Megahorn only has 85% accuracy vs. X-Scissor’s 100%).
But many non-Bug-type Pokémon can learn X-Scissor as well. This makes it an effective coverage move against Dark-, Grass-, or Psychic-types.
