You can get TM99 Dazzling Gleam by speaking with a little girl NPC on Route 123. This particular NPC is located just east of the Berry Master’s house, which you can only access by entering Route 123 from Route 118 (east of Mauville City).
To obtain this TM you must also have the fifth Gym badge, and you’ll need a Pokémon in your party that knows Surf.
TM99 Dazzling Gleam Location (Step-by-Step)
Route 123 is an optional location, so you don’t have to visit it to finish the game. But checking it out can get you some useful items, including the Dazzling Gleam TM.
As for prerequisites, this is what you’ll need to have before you can reach the TM:
- Obtain the fifth Gym Badge from Norman, the Petalburg City Gym Leader
- Have a Pokémon with HM03 Surf
Once you’ve done that, return to Mauville City to get started.
Step 1: Leave Mauville City by using the east exit that connects to Route 118.
Step 2: When you exit you’ll be on the western part of Route 118. From here, proceed eastward to find a beach.
Step 3: Upon reaching the beach, find the body of water on the right-hand side and use Surf to navigate east and surf towards the other side.
Step 4: Keep surfing until you reach the beach on the eastern section of the route, near a Fisherman NPC.
Step 5: Keep moving east through the tall patches of grass ahead.
Step 6: Eventually you’ll reach an intersection; continue east to find another patch of tall grass to go through.
Step 7: After walking past a Delinquent, you should be nearing the route’s exit that connects to Route 123.
Step 8: When you reach Route 123, head slightly south and follow the path eastward near the fences.
Step 9: Once you’ve passed the Berry Master’s house, you’ll spot a Fairy Tale Girl wearing in a pink dress. Talk to her to receive the TM for Dazzling Gleam.
TM99 Dazzling Gleam Details + Uses
|Dazzling Gleam Move Details|
|PP||10 (max. 16)|
Dazzling Gleam is a Special Fairy-type move with no additional effects in Single Battles. However, in battles with multiple opponents such as Double Battles, Dazzling Gleam damages all adjacent foes.
Dazzling Gleam is a popular choice for a Fairy-type STAB move in Double Battles because it targets and damages both opponents simultaneously. The move has an 80 base power and 100% accuracy, making it a reliable option for dealing Fairy-type damage.
Dazzling Gleam’s utility extends to non-Fairy-type Pokémon as well, particularly Psychic-types, as it can serve as a great coverage move for those that can learn it.
This move usually competes for a spot in the movesets of Fairy-type Pokémon that can learn both it and Moonblast.
Moonblast is a more powerful Fairy-type move, boasting a base power of 95 and a perfect accuracy. Alongside its higher damage potential, Moonblast also has a chance of reducing the target’s Special Attack by one stage. But Moonblast only targets a single opponent.
So which of these moves is usually better?
While Moonblast is typically the better option in Single Battles, Dazzling Gleam proves more useful in Double Battles.
