How To Get the Full Incense in Pokémon Platinum

The Full Incense in Veilstone City (Pokémon Platinum)

The Full Incense is located on a small hill in Veilstone City just east of the Gym, but you will need to use Rock Climb to reach the exact location. So you can only acquire the Full Incense after you’ve beaten Candice at the Snowpoint Gym.

As for what you can use this item for:

The Full Incense is a hold item. In battle, it forces the holder to move last, regardless of its Speed Outside of battle it allows Snorlax to produce Munchlax Eggs at the Pokémon Day Care in Solaceon Town.

The Full Incense is located on the top of a small hill to the west of the Veilstone City Pokémon Center.

You’ll need a Pokémon that can use Rock Climb to reach this item, meaning you can only access after you’ve defeated Gym Leader Candice in Snowpoint City and received the Icicle Badge from her.

Once you can use Rock Climb, Fly to Veilstone City and go down the staircase near the PokeCenter, then head westward on the main street.

Uses in Battle

The Full Incense is a Held Item that reduces the holder’s priority level when using moves, forcing them to act last in a turn.

This gives the Full Incense the same effect in battle as the Lagging Tail.

It sounds counterintuitive, but there are a few practical uses for the Full Incense.

It’s a great item to use with Trick, which switches the user’s held item with the target’s – this would leave your opponent with a priority-lowering hindrance until the end of battle.

The Full incense can also be used in conjunction with Substitute and Focus Punch.

Focus Punch is a low-priority move that does tremendous damage, but only if the user isn’t attacked during that turn.

By using a Full Incense to ensure you set down a substitute at the end of one turn, you can land a Focus Punch on the next turn while the target is busy attacking the copy.

The Full Incense also serves to boost the power of Payback, which doubles its damage if the user moves after the target.

Uses Outside of Battle

You can also use the Full Incense as a held item while breeding with a Snorlax to get a baby Munchlax.

Here’s how it works:

You’ll need to have two Snorlax of opposite genders, or any of these pairings:

  • A Snorlax and a Ditto
  • Or a Snorlax and a Pokémon from Snorlax’s Egg Group

Once a Pokémon is holding the Full Incense, take both parents to the Pokémon Day Care in Solaceon Town. This is located northwest of the Pokémon Center.

Now you can leave and travel around for a while, and then return to the Day Care and speak with the Day-Care Man outside.

If your Pokémon have made an Egg, he will give it to you.

You can also check your Pokémon’s Egg status on the Day-Care Checker Pokétch App screen, which will display a picture of an Egg if one is produced.

To hatch an Egg, you just have to carry it in your party while you take a certain number of steps (the total required steps vary based on the egg).

For hatching a Munchlax egg you’ll need between 10,280 and 10,536 steps. But if you have a Pokémon in your party with the Flame Body or Magma Armor Abilities, that number will be halved.

If you follow this exact process then eventually you’ll be the proud owner of your very own Munchlax.
