The Odd Incense is on the lowest floor of the Solaceon Ruins. No Hidden Moves are required to reach it, but this is the only Odd Incense you can get in Pokémon Platinum.
The Solaceon Ruins are mostly filled with stairways leading to dead ends, and only by climbing the staircases in the correct order can the final chamber be reached.
The order of stairs for the Odd Incense is:
- Top Right
- Bottom Left
- Top Right
- Top Left
- Top Left
- Bottom Left
Odd Incense Location (Step-by-Step)
The Odd Incense is in the Solaceon Ruins, which is a short distance into the eastern woods of Solaceon Town.
To reach it, start by heading north from Solaceon Town’s Pokémon Center.
Then just before you reach Solaceon Town’s northern entrance, turn eastward into the gap in the woods.
Travel as far east as you can, then turn south to hop down the ledges against the eastern edge of the area.
After the third ledge, head to the east to reach the entrance to the Solaceon Ruins cave.
The Solaceon Ruins make up a sort of maze, with several nondescript staircases on every floor, most leading to dead ends.
On the back wall in the first chamber is a big message to visitors that looks like a different language at first; it’s English, only it’s written in Unown lettering.
If you read the words carefully, they spell out all the directions needed to reach the main chamber of the Solaceon Ruins.
To reach the main chamber:
Step 1: Start by taking the top-right staircase.
Step 2: Take the bottom-left staircase.
Step 3: Take the top-right staircase.
Step 4: Take the top-left staircase.
Step 5: Take the top-left staircase.
Step 6: Take the bottom-left staircase.
The main chamber on floor B5F has four Poké Ball items on the floor.
The Odd Incense is the bottom-right Poké Ball on the ground.
Using the Odd Incense
In Battle
The Odd Incense is a held item that has the same primary effect as the TwistedSpoon and the Mind Plate: it raises the power of Psychic-type moves by 20%.
It works best when given to a Psychic-type Pokémon who can use it to further boost the STAB damage it already inflicts.
The item affects both physical and special moves.
Outside of Battle
If two Mr. Mimes of opposite genders (or a Mr. Mime and a Ditto or a Pokémon from Mr. Mime’s Egg Group) are placed in the Solaceon Day Care Center, you can give one Pokémon the Odd Incense to hold.
This can lead to you getting an egg that hatches into a Mime Jr.
Breeding Mime Jr. with the Odd Incense
Once one of your Pokémon is holding the Odd Incense (a Mr. Mime or a Ditto) take both Pokémon to the Day Care in Solaceon Town. This is northwest of the Pokémon Center.
Give both Pokémon to the Day-Care Lady at the front desk.
After walking around for a while, return to the Day Care and speak with the Day-Care Man outside.
If your Pokémon have made an Egg, he will give it to you.
You can also check your Pokémon’s Egg status on the Day Care Checker Pokétch App screen, which will display a picture of an Egg if one has been produced.
To hatch Eggs, you have to carry them in your Pokémon party while you take a certain number of steps—in this case, between 6,425 and 6,681 steps.
If you have a Pokémon in your party with the Flame Body or Magma Armor Abilities, the number of steps will be halved.
Note: The Odd Incense is not consumed at any time, so you can create unlimited Mime Jr. eggs.
