Bulk Up Details and Uses
Bulk Up is a non-damaging Fighting-type status move that boosts the user’s Attack and Defense stats by one stage each.

|PP||20 (max. 32)|
Bulk Up is a well-rounded stat-boosting move, since it affects both Attack and Defense stats.
It can be seen as a safer alternative to a move like Swords Dance, which raises the user’s Attack stat by two stages but leaves its Defense stat unchanged.
So Bulk Up essentially achieves the beneficial effects of Curse (when used by a non-Ghost-type Pokémon), without Curse’s drawback of lowering the user’s Speed stat by one stage.
It is important to remember that Bulk Up will not alter a Pokémon’s Special Attack stat, so only physical attack moves will benefit from the stat increase.
Miscellaneous information about Bulk Up:
- Although it is not recommended due to the costliness of the TM, a copy of TM08 can be resold for 750 PokéDollars.
- If Bulk Up is used in a Pokémon Contest, it earns the user no Appeal Points, but the user’s Appeal Points will double with the next move.
