If you keep going in this direction then you’ll enter the marsh area.

If you look closely at the marsh, you can see certain paths that are lighter than the surrounding muck. If you walk across these lighter areas, you won’t get stuck in the swamp.

Tip: If you do get stuck in any of the swampy areas, mash the control pad to wriggle your way out of it.

So once you can see the edge of the marsh, head all the way southward parallel to the marsh. And then walk to the west while staying on the lighter spots of the marsh.

PP 20 (max. 32)

Poison Jab is one of the best Poison-type moves in Pokémon Platinum. It has:

  • A respectable 80 base power
  • No accuracy penalties
  • And its 30% chance of poisoning the opponent means it is almost guaranteed to leave the opponent hemorrhaging Hit Points within the first few attacks.

It can also be learned by a lot more Pokémon compared to other Poison-type moves, including a ton of non-Poison-type Pokémon.

Fighting types with high Attack stats, like Blaziken and Gallade, make particularly good use of Poison Jab. Including it in their movesets will help to improve their type coverage.

Miscellaneous Info about Poison Jab:

  • Although it is not advised due to its scarcity, TM84 Poison Jab can be sold in stores for 1500 PokéDollars.
  • When Poison Jab is used in a Pokémon Contest, it earns the user 2 Appeal Points, plus 2 bonus Appeal Points if the Judge’s Voltage goes up.
