TM30 can be found near the start of Route 9 just outside of Cerulean City. You can get TM30 at any point after getting the S.S Ticket from Bill at his house on Route 25.
Note that you’ll need a Pokémon that knows HM01 Cut to chop down a tree blocking your path. And you’ll also need to defeat Misty and get the Cascadebadge to use Cut outside of battle.
Prerequisites
- Obtain the S.S Ticket from Bill at his house at the northeast edge of Route 25
- Obtain the Cascadebadge by defeating Misty in Cerulean City
- Obtain HM01 Cut from the ship captain on the S.S. Anne in Vermillion City
- Have a Pokémon in your party that knows Cut
Getting TM30 Teleport
Starting from the Cerulean City Pokémon Center, head west until you reach the wall of cylinders.
Once you’ve reached the cylinders, head northeast up the ledge until you’ve reached a house with a police officer in front of it.
If you’ve gotten the S.S Ticket from Bill, the officer will be standing beside the front door.
Enter the robbed house.
Walk through the robbed house and exit through the hole in the wall.
After exiting the house, go southeast until you’ve next to the roof of the Cerulean Gym.
Once you’re just above the gym’s roof, head east until you reach a small cuttable tree.
Use a Pokémon in your party that knows Cut to chop down the tree. Then head east until you see a Jr. Trainer.
Just below you to the right is a Jr. Trainer that you can’t avoid and have to fight.

Effect | User flees from battle. Outside of battle, it returns you to the last Pokémon Center you’ve visited. |
As a battle move, Teleport is pretty ineffective. All it does is flee from battle. So as far as in-battle uses, Teleport can prove to be somewhat useful if you find yourself unable to run from a tough battle.
This only works when battling wild Pokémon, because you can’t use Teleport to flee from trainer battles.
However in a vast majority of cases, you’re better off just running from battle normally or switching to a stronger Pokémon.
Note: Outside of battle, Teleport can be used to return you to the last Pokémon Center you’ve visited. But it can’t be used inside buildings or caves. This can be very handy prior to getting HM02 Fly.
