Getting TM47 Explosion

Starting from the inside of Victory Road, walk northwest towards the boulder on the ground.

Once you’re behind the boulder, use a Pokémon with Strength to push the boulder down once, and then east towards a red circular switch.

After pushing the boulder onto the switch, head back to where the boulder originally was and head up the stairs onto the giant rock.

Walk northeast along the rock until the path splits.

At the path split, head down the stairs to your left and then head north until you see a ladder.

There’s a trainer (Cooltrainer♀) nearby, but she can be avoided if you walk beneath her.

There’s a Blackbelt NPC nearby, but he can be avoided if you walk above him.

Explosion Details + Uses

Explosion Move Details
Type Normal
Power 170
Accuracy 100%
PP 5 (max. 8)
Effect Makes the user faint after using the move. Halves the opposing Pokémon’s defense during damage calculation.

Explosion is the strongest Normal type attack in the game. This is due to its raw power stat, but also because the opposing Pokémon’s Defense is halved during damage calculation.

So Explosion’s base power can actually be thought of as being 340.

The downside of Explosion is that the user faints after the move is used.

The user faints even if the move misses or the opposing Pokémon is unaffected. (For example, if Explosion is used against a Ghost type Pokémon.)

So if you wisely incorporate Explosion into your battle strategy (for example, having a Pokémon on your team for the sole purpose of using Explosion) then this move can be a devastating attack. Otherwise it’s probably just worth selling it for the extra cash.
