The monster expert in Rune Factory 4 is where you can go to have your tamed monsters assessed. This NPC lives in a house along Selphia Plain West.
Monster Expert Location (Step-by-Step)
If you want to have your monsters assessed by the monster expert, make sure to have your monster join your party first.
Then to get to the monster expert’s house, you’ll need to first head south of Selphia Castle Gate.
You’ll then make it to an intersection in Selphia Plain.
From here, head south again.
Next up is a wide clearing in Selphia Plain.
Take the path heading west from here.
After that, you’ll be on a short stretch of Selphia Plain.
Head all the way towards the west from here and exit towards the west.
Then you’ll find yourself in a large area of Selphia Plain where the upper section is blocked by a mineable boulder. From here, head west.
You’ll then make it to Volkanon Bridge.
Follow the path over the bridge and all the way west from here to get to Selphia Plain West.
You’ll then be in Selphia Plain West. This first area is also where the monster expert’s house can be found. Head inside when you’re ready.
You’ll find the monster expert NPC standing inside.
What Does the Monster Expert Do?
The monster expert is an NPC that can give you a full assessment of your monster.
Unfortunately, they can only evaluate the monsters you have in your party.
Once you speak to the monster expert, they’ll list out some options for different information you can learn about your monster companions.
The different options are explained in the table below:

| “Give me the basic summary.” |
The expert will give you a breakdown of a general description of your monster, such as size and vitality.
They’ll also describe how well you’re taking care of your companion. |
| “Elemental resistances.” | The expert will list down how well your monster can resist each of the different elemental attacks. |
| “Status-altering & defense.” | The expert will detail the different status ailment attacks your monster can inflict. They will also detail how well your monster can defend itself against these status ailments. |
| “Other attack and defense.” | The expert will list down the different special stats your monster has in its basic attack and defense. These will include Knock, Knock Resistance, Crit, and Crit Resistance. |
