In order to get a Plant Sword and a Magic Plant Shield, you have to grow a Dungeon Seed into a Field Dungeon. After beating the boss in the Field Dungeon, you will be rewarded with a Sword Seed or Shield Seed, which can be grown into a Plant Sword or a Magic Plant Shield.
Plant Swords and Shields are items you need to fulfill the quests “Harvest A Sword Flower!” and “Harvest a Shield Flower!”
These are weapons that you can grow yourself on your farm, instead of using the forge.
And these weapons also mimic the stats of any random weapon or shield in the game.
How To Get a Dungeon Seed
To get the seeds to grow the Plant Sword and Magic Plant Shield, you first have to get a Dungeon Seed.
This can be found in Demon’s Den, which is located in Sercerezo Hill.
Step 1: Getting To Demon’s Den
To reach Demon’s Den, you have to go to the mushroom area of Sercerezo Hill, located below Daily Hill.
The path to get to Demon’s Den will be blocked off by mushrooms.
You’ll be unable to pass through these mushrooms normally. However, if you go to the area any time from the 1st to 5th of any season, the mushrooms will be cleared – allowing you to pass through to the Demon’s Den.
Once you unlock the Demon’s Den, you will be able to warp there any time using the airship.
Step 2: Beating the Demon’s Den
Once inside the cave, you’ll be faced with a few questions to answer.
If you answer them correctly, you will be led to the boss. If you don’t, you will be dropped into a pit of monsters.
The signs will ask you strange questions:
- Firstly, if you’re female
- Secondly, if you are good at cooking
- And thirdly, if you’re a thing of beauty
No matter if you’re playing as a male or female character, you will always jump into the left hole for every one of these answers.
Jumping into the right pit will lead to a dead end full of monsters, and you’ll have to use your teleport spell to get out.
Once you answer all of the questions correctly, you’ll get to the last room, where you go up to fight the raccoon boss, Magnuto.
After beating him, you’ll be rewarded with a Dungeon Seed.
Getting The Sword/Shield Seed
Now that you’ve obtained a Dungeon Seed, you’re able to move onto the next step.
Let’s also break down this process:
Step 1: Growing a Field Dungeon
Once you’ve successfully obtained a Dungeon Seed, you now have to grow it!
Dungeon Seeds are planted on your farmland, and will grow in 18 days.
This process can be sped up by using Formula A, B, or C on your farmland. These items speed up the growing process of any crop.
Formula A, B, and C can be crafted with a Chemistry Set. These formulas can also be bought at Carnation’s.
Formula Recipes | |||
---|---|---|---|
Type/Quality | Ingredients Needed | Required Level | Growth Speed |
Formula A | Withered Grass, Blue Grass, Black Grass | Level 29 | +0.4x growth |
Formula B | Yellow Grass, Pink Cat, 4 Leaf Clover | Level 41 | +1.0x growth |
Formula C | White Grass, Fireflower, Corn | Level 72 | +2.0x growth |
After the Dungeon Seed is fully grown, it will become a Field Dungeon.
This will have a cave-like appearance, and when you interact with it, you can enter the dungeon.
How To Beat The Field Dungeon
Inside of the Field Dungeon you’ll find a maze.
Inside of this maze, there are chests containing rare items, and weapons and armor that Bado might not sell at his shop.
After completing each level there will be a miniboss that you have to beat to progress to the next level. The last level will be themed for a certain season, and once you get to the end, you will be faced with a boss called the Greater Demon.
After beating this Greator Demon, it will drop a Sword Seed or Shield Seed.
Then you can exit the Field Dungeon and plant your seed.
Tip: You can re-enter this Field Dungeon at any time to beat the Greater Demon repeatedly to get more seeds. The dungeon resets every time you leave.
Growing The Sword/Shield Flower
Now that you have the seed, you can plant it!
The Sword Flower and/or Shield Flower will grow in 12 days.
The interesting thing about this plant is that the better tended it is, the better your weapon will be. And there are six soil qualities that affect your plant’s growth:
- Health
- Defense
- Growth
- Quality
- Number
- Size
Health impacts the quality level of the soil — the higher your health, the longer your plant lives. If the soil’s health reaches zero, the plant will die. Some ways to boost this stat are tilling Withered Grass, Corn, and 4 Leaf Clovers onto the soil.
Defense impacts how resistant a plant is to Typhoons. If you have a high defense, a crop will not be killed during a Typhoon. Wettable powder boosts your defense level.
Growth impacts the speed that a plant grows. At 2.0x, the plant will grow 2 times faster, and a plant that takes 12 days to grow will take 6. Formulas are what boost your growth level.
Quality impacts your plant’s level. The higher the quality it has, the faster it’ll level up. Higher level plants sell for more, and can increase stats. This will be boosted by Fertilizer.
Number is how many crops you will harvest. This varies from crop to crop. Arthur’s Harvest Report will show which crops will have a bumper crop, and which will have a poor harvest.
Size is what causes a crop to become large to make a giant crop, or what causes a plant to become smaller. You can use Gigantizer to make it bigger, and Minimizer to make it smaller.
Once your plant has grown, you can harvest it to get your Plant Sword or Magic Plant Shield.
You can harvest this immediately if you’d like to. However, the longer you let the plant grow (and the higher level the crop is), the more likely it is to have better stats.
Here’s a little test I did for this guide:
One Shield Flower I left growing for 2 weeks, and the other I picked as soon as it bloomed.
The Shield Flower I left growing for two weeks had the stats of an Elemental Shield, with 610 defense, and 580 magic defense.
The Shield Flower that I picked as soon as it bloomed had the stats of a Platinum Shield, with 150 defense, and 150 magic defense.
The same can be done for the Plant Swords. The longer you leave it, the more likely it is to have better stats.
Other Ways To Get Sword/Shield Seeds
Maybe you have a while until the path to get to Demon’s Den opens up, or maybe you don’t want to grow a Field Dungeon.
No matter the case, there’s actually other ways to get your seed!
Most bosses have a small chance of dropping a Sword Seed or Shield Seed when beaten.
However, for some bosses, a drop of a Sword Seed or a Shield Seed is guaranteed.
These can be found on the Floating Empire, the last dungeon in the second arc of the game.
There are three bosses that are guaranteed to 100% drop a Sword Seed or Shield Seed in the Floating Empire. These are:
Boss Name | Map Location |
---|---|
The Sechs Tank |
|
The Armored Tank + |
|
The Sechs Golem |
|
Note that all three of these bosses will drop a Sword/Shield seed, but you will not be able to fight them again the same day.
The good news is that these bosses respawn every day, and you can battle them again for another seed.
