Alexandrite is one of the rarest and most expensive gems that you can unearth in the Lake Mine. The color of the stone actually changes depending on your location: red if you’re indoors and green if you’re outdoors.

Note: Alexandrite is difficult to find because it can only be found on advanced floors of the Lake Mine. Unlocking the Mine Elevator early can be a great advantage so you can skip directly to the levels where Alexandrite can be found.

How To Get Alexandrite

Gems like Alexandrite can only be found by breaking rocks with your Hammer. Just keep digging in the Lake Mine until you find some!

Since they’re so rare, you can usually only find one of these gems per floor, or even none at all.

Upgrading the Hammer to the Cursed/Blessed or Mythic level can allow you to charge it and simultaneously break all the boulders on the map, saving you a lot of time.

The farmer finds an Alexandrite in the Lake Mine.

Remember that you can only access the Lake Mine during Winter, when Kappa’s lake freezes over. In later stages of the game, though, you can find a Travel Stone on Level 255 of the Spring Mine which allows you to instantly teleport anywhere in Mineral Town.

Alexandrite Uses

Alexandrite can be used to craft a Winter Sun, which sells to Huang for anywhere between 80,000 G and 170,000 G.

The farmer holds up a Winter Sun in the Secret Forest.

Selling Alexandrite

Alexandrite can be sold to either Zack or Huang for 10,000 G.

To sell your Alexandrite to Zack, simply drop your gems into the Shipping Bin and wait for him to pick them up at 5:00 PM every day.

The farmer drops an Alexandrite into the Shipping Bin.

Selling your Alexandrite via the Shipping Bin will count towards the list of shippable items you need to achieve for full completion.

This is important because shipping all possible items is a requirement for marrying either Kappa or the Harvest Goddess. You can track your progress by checking the Shipping List on your bookshelf.
