Best Farm Field Layouts for Story of Seasons: FoMT

Farm Map with a complete field layout in SoS: FoMT

In Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, you’re provided with a huge plot of tillable land that’s dedicated to planting crops, flowers, and grass.

You can’t really change the other parts of the farm since the buildings, trees, and other structures are automatically placed & can’t be moved. So the only way you can really customize the look of your farm is to get creative with how you design your field layout.

There are 1,075 tillable plots of land on your farm’s field (25×43), and you can utilize this entire area to your liking depending on your play style.

We’ll share a few of the best field layouts that should work great on most farms in the mid-to-late game.

Maximum Crop Efficiency Layout (Best for Crops)

Color What It Means
Green Crops

Yellow Grass

The Mythic Watering Can is able to water a 9×9 field at one time, so this field layout is designed to let you water your crops as efficiently as possible.

This Maximum Efficiency layout uses 917 tiles out of the 1,075 available plots, leaving you some free space to walk around.

There are dedicated flower areas in pink (9×3) to the left of the farm close to your fruit trees, because planting flowers increases the chance of spawning more fruit each day.

Although this layout is more inclined towards growing and harvesting crops, a small grass field (5×43) is reserved near the bottom for growing wild grass to allow your animals to graze. This way you can avoid spending extra Gs on Fodder.

Farm Layout for Animals

Color What It Means
Green Crops
Brown Fencing
Yellow Grass

This design leaves the entire right side of the farm (425 tiles) dedicated to growing wild grass, which can be harvested for Fodder.

If you’re the type that likes to keep plenty of animals, you know how hard it is to keep up on your Fodder stock!

For example:

You can keep up to 16 animals in the barn. That’s 16 pieces of Fodder a day, or even more, if you like to let them graze outside. Maintaining this dedicated space just for your animals to go outside helps keep them well-fed, happy, and consistently producing milk or wool.

The grass is also self-sustaining and constantly regrows – after an initial investment in planting a couple of Grass Seedlings, you won’t have to spend money on Fodder ever again.

This farm layout uses 5×5 fields for crops and flowers, which is perfect if you have a Mithril Watering Can. If you have less or more powerful versions of the Watering Can, you can adjust the size of the crop fields depending on your current level.

A fence border can be optionally added around the crop fields to prevent grass and debris from spreading to this area. You can place down regular Lumber or Material Stone to create a fence.

Balanced Farm Layout (Animals + Crops)

Color What It Means
Green Crops
Pink Flowers
Brown Fencing
Yellow Grass

This layout is a nice in-between of the last two field designs, assuming you’re a farmer that likes to focus on a bit of everything.

There are 6 full-sized 9×9 crop fields that can be watered easily with the Mythic Watering Can.

And you get three 3×9 fields in the middle that you can use to plant flowers or secondary crops.

Tip: If you’re in the late-game and want to add a small aesthetic flair then you can even use Golden Lumber for the fences.

And then on the right-hand side of the field that’s closest to the barn, you’ll have a smaller 25×8 field of wild grass set aside for the animals to graze.
