Pot-au-feu is a great vegetable dish that you can make in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town. The best time to cook Pot-au-feu is in the Spring because you can grow most of the ingredients needed for it all season long.

Where To Learn the Recipe

Cooking inspiration is something that happens automatically as you make dishes with different ingredients. Once you’ve cooked with an ingredient a certain number of times, you can unlock a new recipe that uses the same item!

To learn the recipe for Pot-au-feu, you need to cook with the following ingredients:

Ingredients Number of dishes you need to cook
Carrot 5 dishes
Turnip 10 dishes

The quality of the ingredients you use can reduce the number of times you need to cook with that item. You can check the quality by looking at how many stars the ingredient has.

For each additional star that an ingredient has, the number of times you need to cook with it decreases by a factor of 1.

If a recipe states that you have to cook with Turnips 10 times to unlock it, you can make any dish with 1-star Turnips 10 times. But if you have 2-star Turnips, you only need to cook with them 5 times. Likewise, 5-star Turnips will unlock the recipe after only 2 uses.

Equipment Needed

The equipment needed to make Pot-au-feu can be bought from Jeff at the General Store.

The downside is that Jeff sells his kitchen equipment one by one, in 10-day intervals after you buy the first of Gotts’ house remodeling upgrades.

This means that you can only access the next piece of equipment 10 days after the previous one becomes available for purchase.

Ingredients Needed

The recipe for Pot-au-feu requires Potatoes, Turnips, and Cabbages, which are crops that grow in the Spring.

However, you also need Onions and Carrots that you can only harvest in the Summer and Autumn, respectively.

A good idea is to save some produce each time you harvest them and store them in your kitchen fridge for later use. This way you can make Pot-au-feu any time you want without waiting for next season’s crops.

Ingredients Where to Get
Turnip Harvest after 4 days of growth in the Spring. Turnip seeds can be purchased from the General Store for 120 G
Potato Harvest after 7 days of growth in the Spring. Potato seeds can be purchased from the General Store for 150 G
Cabbage Harvest after 14 days of growth in the Spring. Cabbage seeds can be purchased from the General Store for 500 G

How To Sell Pot-au-feu

Any dishes made in your kitchen can’t be shipped through Zack and the Shipping Bin. However, you can start selling food to Huang once you become friends with him at 4 friendship notes.

To sell a dish to Huang, stand in front of his counter while holding the item. Don’t interact directly with his sprite behind the counter, because that registers as a gift instead.

Huang will then offer you a price, which you can actually reject for a chance at getting him to bid higher.

The price range for Pot-au-feu is anywhere between 480 G and 570 G. If Huang offers you 530 G for the item, for example, you can turn him down and try again to get a higher price.

Keep in mind that his bids will never go lower or higher than this defined range, so 570 G is the maximum price you can get for selling Pot-au-feu.
